Beginners Frustration-Adding Video Clips To Slideshow

Duece

Question

I am a beginner at using Creator 2012. I easily put together a great photo slideshow with audio using the Slideshow Assistant. Piece of cake! I wanted to add a few video clips, clicked on Edit in Videowave and again, easily inserted my video clips and edited them. But now my audio no longer lines up with the pictures! The Fit Video to Audio is "grayed" out and unavailable. I know it has got to be a very simple step that I am missing, but no longer seeing it.

How to get the "Fit Video to Audio" to become available??

Always add audio as the final step !. You must "cut" the slide show where you want to insert the video and then insert the video at that point. The audio should line up. In the future, use "Edit Video Advanced" (Video Wave) to make your slide show. It has much more functionality. You MAY be able to take your original slide show into Video Wave" and do the above editing there.

Fit "Video to Audio" won't do anything for you. Why do you think that will work?

I thought Fit Video to Audio would work becasue the instructions said that was what to use.

I initially started with Create a Photo Slideshow. Printed the turtorial and followed the directions.

I added the photos, arranged them, chose the aspect ration and then it said to add background audio. Which I did. Then I selected the Edit in Video Wave option to add my video clips. Placed them where I wanted, edited them and saved. When I "previewed" the project it was exactly what I wanted... until the end when the background music ran out. In the HELP files I found "Synchronizing audio to the production". It says in Video Wave to choose Production\ Fit Video & Audio.... then click OK to adjust the video to the audio duration. As I said previously, that option is not available.

This was supposed to be a pretty simple little photo slideshow. Nothing extravagant or over the top. What really upsets me is the fact I actually read and followed the directions! I have never used this Roxio product before. What I wouldn't give for a real instruction manual!

If you have any video clips in your project then obviously you can not use the fit video to audio. It only works if you only have photos in your project because the duration of this can be adjusted. How would you fit a video clip to audio without losing (trimming) the video or how would you extend it?

Unfortunately the term fit video to audio is a poor choice of words.

Got it to work!

In "Edit Movie" I added an additional song to the production, which still left the project well over a minute short of the total duration. But... adding the song enabled the Fit Video to Audio option to be chosen. Before trying it I reordered the music selections and when I clicked Fit Video to Audio... voila! ... it lined everything up, the audio ended right on time at the end of the show!! I did not have to re-edit a thing. There were no changes to the video clips, either. I am sure it adjusted the duration of the photos to achieve the required results.

There was not a dry eye in the place this afternoon when I played the DVD.

You are correct - the duration of the photos is adjusted. The duration of any video clips of course does not change.
