Mydvd And Videowave Crashes With 10010 Event

Used VideoWave successfully once and setup a project. Now when I try to startup VideoWave it locks up at the splash screen and then after a few minutes I get the "VideoWave has stopped working" pop-up window.

The event log (see below my system information) reveals the issue is with CLSID 5A7B1561-8FF8-47B9-AFF2-D55125E2FA0D which is associated with the following registry key "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MGI.MM14LibFactory\CLSID".

I have run through VisualStudio 2012 debugger and attached image at event breakpoint for "Unhandled exception at 0x05158167 (VWUIControls.dll) in VideoWave14.exe: 0xC000041D: An unhandled exception was encountered during a user callback."

I can't debug any further without the "VWUIControls.pdb" file--and don't know how to get it.

Your software is corrupt ~ repair it...

A proper repair would be:

Then turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When the Install competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

Thanks for the suggestion Jim, I tried the repair route already using those exact steps after reading another post and that did not work.

I finally performed a full un-install, restarted and then re-installed making sure to turn of the antivirus/Firewall each step of the way (as you pointed out).

Seems to be working now.

Sigh! SSDD... Same issue has cropped up again. I hate to have to go through this process everytime I want to use it.

If a program works and then fails at other thimes, it indicates problems with the system that interfere with the program.

That review to which you linked is useless since the top-rated program also advertises on the same page. Do you really believe that 94% of people buying video software buy PowerDirector?

I also have VS X6 and use it some times. In general I find Roxio easier to use ( have been using it much longer though). Each program has some features missing in the other so it is impossible for me to pick a favourite. It definitely is not "the same with a different name". Roxio has of course many features that are lacking in VS X6, especially ones not related to video work.

Of course both programs are part of the Corel family of products (also includes Pinnacle)
