I have been a Roxio member since 2008 or 2009, but I usually find what I need without actually having to submit question to the forum. I hope I am following correct procedure and etiquette by starting new thread. (I was unable to find exactly the answer or guide to my question)
Here are my pc specs…
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 and all current updates (as of 04.27.2013) except IE10
Samsung SSD 840 Series 191 GB Free (210 GB Total) OS and Programs
Seagate HDD 8MB Cache 5400 RPM 929 GB Free (932 GB Total) Data and Users
CD/DVD Burner 24x/8x with Lightscribe
Roxio Programs I have…
Roxio Creator 2011 Pro (also have the SP1 update on a USB Flash to update it)
Roxio Creator 2012 Plus (Sam’s Club version just like regular 2012, but missing BackOnTrack) I got it for only $30 at Sam’s Club yesterday and the new NXT has more than I would use.
Setup…
I just did (yesterday) a complete “Clean Install” of Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 and all current updates (as of 04.27.2013) except IE10. I have installed MS Office 2007 Pro with updates and have also installed Kaspersky Internet Suite 2013. I have updated all the drivers (Intel, NVIDA, etc.). I also have installed Cyberlink DVD Suite Power2Go 6.0. (I upgrade the hardware on laptop… that’s why I did a clean install of everything. The Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 is a standalone install, not a manufacture OEM image, no bloat.)
Down to it…
I am now ready to install Roxio Creator and was wanting to know what the “Best Practices” for a successful install would be… you know the best steps … like turn off Kaspersky… don’t run any programs… then do this… then do that… for best install results.
I would also like to know if I should install Roxio Creator 2011 Pro first…. Install the SP1 update for Roxio Creator 2011 Pro… and finally install Roxio Creator 2012 Plus.
OR
Just install Roxio Creator 2012 Plus.
The reason I am asking is 2011 Pro has a few things that 2012 Plus does not (BackOnTrack 4, SmartSound Sonicfire Pro, SoundSoap SE) I could probably live without the stuff on 2011 Pro, but I have it… so… you know... I paid for it.
Last question… and it may be moot… I had Roxio Creator 2011 Pro on this same machine before I did the Windows “Clean Install” yesterday. I was told by Roxio that I would be able to reinstall it using the original, registered to me, disc and key I have without issues because I was “deleting” it and reinstalling it… plus they do not support it anymore so updates not an issue. Any thoughts?
