Highlight Colour Scheme

robbies

Question

When creating a menu for a bluray in mydvd videolab HD there seems to be an issue with buttons. When creating a DVD menu you can select the colour scheme and highlight colours for buttons but when creating a bluray menu the colour scheme/highlight options are greyed out. Is this normal? I can't see any reason why this would be the case.

My guess is that the earlier blu ray standard doesn't allow it. If you are really interested, you can read this (link) and all of the associated references. Remember that commercial discs are made with a different process.

Are you making blu ray discs to show off your videos or to show off your menu skills?

DVD Architect Studio does give you the functionality to change the button highlighting when creating a blu-ray but unfortunately it seems to want to re-transcode everything so this isn't an option. The huge advantage myDVD has is that you can leave the video as mpeg2 and it doesn't re-transcode making the process much quicker.

I guess you want a combination of the two. :o

I think that you may have missed the part about the early standards in my post above. Video Wave has not changed in several years so most of what is in it is "old school".

Search around and you might find one Corel owns Roxio so you might try their product.

Edit: Orange box? Where do you see that? What menu background are you using? Did you preview the project? Is the "orange box" still there? Did you burn ans RE- do you see it there?

Have you tried changing the button style on the chapter menu? Some have no text (or numbers) so all you get is a frame around the chapter thumbnail.

Sorry, I am not being very clear. When designing your menu and choosing the button style you want (in my case a thumbnail with text below). In the preview, when using the remote to choose the title you want to play the hover and selection highlights are often a rather crude blue or orange square which appears on top of the thumbnail and the text is also highlighted. I would like the option to choose for only the text to be highlighted in this situation as the blue or orange square which appears over the thumbnail is rather unpleasant.

So you have people watching the preview? What do you see on a finished DVD?

Did you look at the button options? You can select almost any menu button type to substitute for what you have. I think I asked about what menu template you are trying to use. Did you answer that?

You can't get everything you want. in a consumer software. You could try to find an old version of DVDIt; it may give you want you want (ca $400) but I'm not sure it will do blu ray ! :P

I'm out of suggestions. Good luck.
