Trying To Update A Copy Of Roxio Creator - Server Unavailable

Simon James

Question

I am trying to update a copy of Roxio Creator 9 v3.3.0 that has been on my Dell Vostro since 2007 and I suspect is not entirely compatible with my Windows 7 upgrade.

I am getting an error message "...FLEXnet Connect servers are currently unavailable". There is no obvious way to email support to find out what the problem is. Is there another way of updating this software?

Thanks

EMC 9 is not compatible with Windows 7 and there are no updates to make it compatible. Also Roxio no longer supports that version

Hi myguggi

Thanks for your response. I've never (knowingly) actually used the software. I assume it's there to power my DVD player.

If so, do you think there is something I can replace it with that won't render the DVD player inoperable?

Many thanks

Simon

The program has nothing to do with "powering a DVD player". EMC 9 is a program to edit videos, create video DVDs, plus a host of other media related jobs.

I don't know what you mean by "something I can replace it with that won't render the DVD player inoperable"?

BTW, that Flexnet message is erroneous . What it really means is that there are no updates. You can confirm that by going to the top of this page and select Support and then Updates. I doubt that for that old product, there is nothing listed.

Did you buy the Creator program or did it come with your computer? If it came with your computer and you didn't pay for it, it is an OEM ( cut down version)of the software. Go to the computer manufacturer's web site and see if they have anything for you.

Your old program may have a program called CinePlayer. If that is what you use, then of course if you delete it then you will have to use something else. Many of us use the FREE VLC player. Google for it. It plays just about everything you throw at it.

Edit. If you have the Dell OEM software, go here for more information.

The only update for EMC 9 is here:

http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/emc9/software_updates.html

The only thing that it did right was to make EM9 compatible with Vista. The first Roxio version that was compatible with Win 7 is Creator 2010.
