My Computer Crashes When I Try To Use The Roxio Game Capture Hd

criley0007

Question

Specs of my computer, copied from the systems property:

Hewlett-Packard Company

HP Compaq dc 7800p Small Form

Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU

E6550 @ 2.33GHz

1.98GHz, 1.95GB of RAM (apparently it's over 2, but it doesn't say that)

My problem is that when I plug in my Roxio Game Capture HD into to my computer it will work for about a minute and then my computer will crash and restart, it usually crashes when I start loading a game, but it can record the xbox home menu.

Does anyone know why this is happening and can help me?

Side Note: I also connect my roxio to my computer with a 49ft usb cable because my computer is far away from my xbox.

First thing you need to try is a proper Repair:

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Unplug your RGC Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

See what that does before trying a shorter cable ;)

You have a low-end computer and barely meet the minimum requirements to run this Roxio program plus you have one hell of a long USB cable.

Try and set it up with a shorter cable (already suggested in post #2).

Ok, so I moved my computer closer, it's about 6ft away from my tv now so the cable is much shorter, and it still wasn't working so I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it, used a different usb port to plug in the roxio and now it works! Thanks for all of the help!!!

Okay, I am having somewhat the very same issue.

My PC only crashes when the capture card is connected to the pc.

When I start OBS, I plug in my capture card and that's where itll usually crash. If I leave it plugged in while it restarts, it will login and be on the home screen, then will pop up the same blue screen error.

I've tried everything that you've recommended on this thread, as well as a couple others that I had seen you helped on.

I'm using the standard cable that comes with Roxio as well.

Pictures of error to follow
