EMC8 capture

brotherock

Question

I purchased EMC8 to create DVDs of football game videos. My previous program (which crashed) "Click to DVD" allowed me to import the MiniDV footage via the firewall and burn game videos to a DVD. In playback I could hit the rewind control and it would go to the previous scene (football play) This allowed the coaches and players to review plays over and over easily. The first DVD I burned with EMC8 divided the video into scenes during the capture process, but imported the video as one continuous file. Now when the rewind button is pushed it goes all the way back to the beginning- making it useless for film study. How can I create a DVD in which each scene is accessible?

Now, how do I send this to "My DVD" and burn this onto one disc, with each scene independent from the others, so I can fast forward or rewind to a specific scene? Your help is greatly appreciated.
Actually detected scenes and 'chapters' on a DVD are not necessarily the same. They can be, but are used in two different applications. Detected scenes is to help out in editing in Videowave. Once you are finished editing, you then take the Videowave project into MyDVD where you can then mark 'chapters'. These are marks so the viewer can skip around using the DVD remote skip button. Now you can have MyDVD place a chapter mark at each scene automatically or you can do it manually.

Beats me!!!

My camcorder is not capable of scene detection during capture so I have never used it.

I know the general procedure from reading the posts here, it comes up about once a week…

ggrussell thanks for the info, but one followup. How do I get MyDVD to place a chapter mark at each scene automatically. I was successful in capturing each scene individually and dragging them to the editing timeline as individual scenes but then when it was burned to the DVD it was done so as 1 continnuous scene. Hitting the rewind button took it back to the beginning rather than the previous scene. Thanks for the help.

Ditto - I'm having this same issue in EMC9 - Using Roxio Media Import, I'm transferring movies from my Canon Elura 100 miniDV camera into my desktop via IEEE 1394 as AVI files just fine, complete with scenes demarcated in the Media Manager. But then all scene information is apparently lost when creating the movie layout in MyDVD (by selecting Add New Movie), even if I open the file and select only one or more scenes.

It seems crazy that I’d now have to run the “Scene Detection” function under the Edit Chapters function to recreate these markers, since ostensibly scenes have already been detected and defined during the import.

I’d certainly appreciate any insight/explanation as to why this is, and I’d be really grateful if someone could point out the function or a tip/trick to get around redefining scenes. It's probably obvious and I'll be happy to feel silly for not recognizing it, so if you know, please post and not leave this as an excercise for the novice. Thanks much!
