Trouble Uninstalling

tried to uninstall 2012 pro using revo uninstaller using moderate - result the program was gone but so was my wireless internet connection

 

pc is as follows

SYSTEM: SONY VGC-LT38E, X86-BASED PC

INTEL Core ™ 2 Duo CPU T8300 @ 2.4 GHz, 2401 Mhz, 2 Cores, Front Side Bus Speed: 800MHz, L2 Cache: 3MB

DDR2 4GB PC2-5300 (2GBx2) 667MHz

BIOS Phoenix Technologies LTD R2040W5, 2/20/2008 & SMBIOS Version 2.4

SOUND: Intel High Definition Audio with 3 built in speakers

The only way that could happen was if you had put your wireless internet connection installation in one of the Roxio folders. Did you look when you were given the choice to uninstall the registry entries and folders?

 

I've been recommending that program for years and this was only the second complaint.

 

Use your Windows restore to restore your computer to before when you used Revo.

 

Why did you have to remove Creator 2012? If you were having problems there may have been some corruption in Windows.

This wasn't the first time I used revo but the first time I had to do a restore after using it.

 

I probably should have checked more before doing the registry cleanup part.

 

Why uninstall 2012 - well, my computer tasks are reducing and I just don't need to keep such a large program on my pc that I haven't used in months and no plans of using it in the future.

 

I am going to investigate to see the folder my internet connection is on.

Using Revo uninstall there were two options

1. forced msi uninstall

2. uninstall

what is the difference?

If I remember correctly the 2nd one did not work and it was the first one I used that ended with all the problems

HUH? Did you get those messages with Revo Uninstaller in the Moderate Mode? It sound like the Pro version and more intensive clean up.

 

msi is Microsoft Installer (program).

the mode only comes on for clean up of registry and folders

what bothered me was trying to use just the uninstall option led to no where it seemed to stop

'Forced" is used to uninstall partially installed (or Uninstalled) programs.. Did you try to uninstall the program some other way and couldn't? I still say that you should nto have any issues with uninstalling the program and ending up with an issue on the internet. Did you get it back or are you using a different computer/tablet? Did you find out where the internet connection set up was located and any reason for its demise?

I only tried to uninstall using revo.

I was able to restore my pc to where it was before the failed attempt to uninstall roxio (I have an image program that I have used successfully through a number of disasters over the last 5 years on three different Pcs)

did not find where the internet connecton setup is located

when I am ready to try again I'll try to use the uninstall option and see what happens - should I put the results here or start another thread - it probably will be within the next 2 or 3 weeks.

OH I will be very careful and selective when I get to the regestry part of the uninstall, I will use Revo

I tried uninstalling with roxo - Uninstall option

it starts up and reaches a point where it gives this message

 

"invalid Drive J"

Then the message

uninstall program ended prematurely

 

I don't know what this drive J is, I don't recall ever having a drive designated J

 

also when I open Creator 2012 pro I get that invalid drive j message but it doesn't prevent program from working
