My Dvd - Error 8004600

Recommended Posts

I am a past semi heavy user of Roxio products and last used Creator 2012 Pro. I built a new PC earlier this year and decided to upgrade to NXT. (I am also running AVS.) I am unable to complete my first project and would to see if you guys can help.

While I did actually have one crash in Videowave, I will consider that to be working good enough. My problem is when trying to burn project in MyDVD. I edited all video in Videowave and then menus, slideshow, etc was in MyDVD. All works great until I go to burn. Searching on this error brings up some pretty old posts....so I am hoping that is it something simple.

Error details

80046000

80046000 Error while Opening Project

80004003 Error while Encoding Movie 1

80004003 Error while Aborting

I have tried both hardware and software rendering. I updated my video drivers to most current.

PC Specs

AMD FX 8350 8 core

32GB Crucial RAM

ASUS/AMD Radeon HD7750

250GB Crucial SSD main drive (~65GB available space)

2 other Black WD drives for storage

thank you,

Kris

You say you do your editing in Videowave. Do you mean the Videowave you launch from Edit Video - advanced or the Videowave that is in myDVD?

I find that the best workflow is to use "Edit Video - advanced" to assemble the video and output (export) to a video file, preferable in the same format you want for the DVD. I do this for all the "movies" and slideshows in my DVD project. In this way any problems are detected early and not when the DVD is created.

If all "movies" are created successfully I then add the individual movies in myDVD and createcd the DVD.

Have tried burning to a folder set or to an image file instead of directly to DVD?

Your error message indicates that the error occurs with Movie 1. Do have several movies in your project? How long in time is your total project?

I am not using NXt since in my opinion NXt is a step backwards from C2012

Hi Mygugi - Yes, I start from the main window, then Edit video advanced. When done, I launch the "send to MyDVD" button. This is typically how I've done it in the past. Sounds like we have a similar workflow.

I am not sure what the length is off hand, but I have 18 minute remaining for a normal DVD.

I tried buring to an ISO and it would provide the same error. At some point, the "burn" button would be grayed out after I recieved the error.

This was actually my first project with Roxio, so there is only one movie that it should see.

Well, since I went the way of Windows 8, I couldn't find where C12 was compatible with it.

thanks,

Kris

I went back to Videowave (Edit Advanced Video) and just tried to export out a video file. It gave me a "Unable to build render graph" error. I was going to try to export it to a DVD or file I could use in another program to get this work done. Not sure what to do here. I might try a smaller clip and/or exporting to different file types/sizes.

Have you updated your video card/chip lately. Both error are related to the video card/chip

How about directX and MSHTML ?

To be a little more clear, this is the first time I have run Roxio on this box (and the video card.) So, I haven't run successfully it with an older video card/chipset on this particular PC. After I ran into the issue, I updated the video card drivers, but it did not address the issue. Directx is v11 and I suspect that and MSHTML are fairly recent with my regular windows updates.

My next step is to try to update the motherboard drivers. I doubt that is the problem, but I guess you never know. Any other help is appreciated!!

Updated video card and mobo drivers. Still stuck. Any ideas? Does anyone from Roxio help on these boards or do I need to contact them directly?

Read this though.

I read that thread and there is certainly something to it. Disabled 2nd monitor and is started processing/encoding the video as normal. Got really excited and thought it was solved, but it stopped and locked up at 20%. This is probably the only time this PC has fully frozen like that. (Not blaming it on NXT necessarily as I was doing some minor web surfing in back.) I will try it again tonight with it running by itself and report back.

Grandpa Bruce - I upgraded to NXT due to having Win8, so I think I am good with all the compatibility. Is that what you meant?

thanks all!

You mentioned Creator 2012 and the compatibility with Windows 8. That is why I posted the link.

Let me throw out 2 things here...

First a Proper Repair would be in order:

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

This will make sure all is well with Roxio ;)

2nd thing is that is seem apparent that your file is the issue...

You need to open VideoWave - Start with New Project, load the clip(s) and do an Export As...

If that goes well, then another New Project, add the new file do your edits, Save (dmsm).

Then start MyDVD and add the VW, dmsm project file.

We have all been stuck in this loop and repeating the same thing will never get you out of it

  • 4 months later...

Hello all. I got excited when I saw the new version of NXT and was ready to order it....but then realized, I probably should get my current version working first! So, I pulled the band aid off finally and Revo uninstalled, admin account, turned off AV, rebooted and logged in with admin, copied disc to HDD, check compatibility, installed. (If I missed typing a step, know that I followed Jim's steps from other posts. Printed it out and follow each step. Thanks Jim!)

First test:

- Created new Blu Ray project. As before, it seems to edit video okay. Export out to MyDVD went find, but when selecting music for slide show, the software just shut down (no errors, just went away.)

- Another attempt in MyDVD and was able to create slide show with music, but when processing video, the preview would run smooth for 2-3 seconds....then pause for one second over and over. It was like it was hanging up a little. After 5-10 minutes, blue screen error.

Second test:

- Tried video from GoPro this time to see if files would make a difference. Edited fine (other than a little audio lag in the editing if you kept an edit window open too long.) Attempted to export to file this time and crashed during processing.

Other info:

Over the last year, I have been using a different editing package and I do have issues (lock ups, etc.) say 10% of the time. So, that leads me to believe that it's not completely the software's fault. (Although with the other program, I can at least produce projects.) My computer has been flawless in every other way that I have noticed. I have another post here that speaks to this, but I almost get the feeling that its the video card and/or drivers. (I have tried several differnent drivers, including beta ones.) I seem to have the most problem when processing video. Its almost as if the memory fills up and then locks up. I don't know....I REALLY want Roxio to work..and I even want to upgrade (still.)

Thoughts anyone? Thank you in advance.

This probably won't solve your problem, but could give you another data point. There's a utility called "SpeedFan" that will let you see how hot your processor, drives, video card are running. I know on my previous system, when I'd go to render video out, my system would basically overheat unless it was about 40 degrees outside so that the window near my PC could let in enough cold air (with another fan to blow it into my case) to keep things cooled off. Now, even so, I never had it fail to render a video, even when it was complaining (beeping) about being too hot, but at the very least, it can be interesting to see how things are running.

Well, it is looking like my problem has finally been solved! I hoping this isn't jinxing it. Anyway, after my $25 call with Roxio, they could not figure out a solution. (It locked up while they were trying to work on it.) Anyway, he suggested to look more at the hardware.

- I ran Memtest for many, many hours with no errors.

- I downloaded Heaven Benchmark and really took the video card to task. All went perfect.

- I then tried Prime95 and started to get errors. I really couldn't ID what the errors meant, but had errors none the less.

- I then tried AMD overdrive and after a short period of time, it stated an error and said I had to reboot. I sent all the info to AMD and they issued an RMA and replaced the CPU with a new one. (It was a good thing I bought a boxed unit with warranty!) In all the years of me building PCs, I have NEVER had a bad CPU.

I am working out another small issue with audio, but my rig is processing HD video like crazy with no lock ups or reboots. For now, I will consider this issue resolved! I will more than likely upgrade to NXT2 in the next few months. Thanks for everyone's help.
