Gaps On Tape Make Software Think The Tape Is Over And Stop Recording. Gaps Seperate Different Days, And I Need It To Continue Recording!

RescueVHS

Question

The software and hardware work perfectly. Recently I'm using my video 8 camcorder to capture video 8s. There are 10 second gaps in the video on the tape to separate different days of recording. When the software processes the gaps with no video it stops recording, but there is still video on the tape I want recorded.

This is problematic because I leave my computer for a few hours and come back to find that only a third of the tape has been captured and there is 2/3rd left after a 10 second gap after the first portion.

I have tried to set the software to record for a three hour duration, but the first time I tried that (just this tape which I started an hour ago) it stopped when it came across a gap 13 minutes in. After a 10 second gap, there is still video on the tape I am recording right now.

My immediate solution was to make recording need manual interaction to stop, but I don't see that option if it is there.

Help!

That is normal behaviour when capturing from analog tapes. When the program encounters a gap it thinks it has reached the end of the tape and stops recording. Manual interaction is the way I always record and I stop capturing after 10-15 minutes in any case even if the video segment is still running.

I would not capture to a 3 hour file even if I could. It makes editing to difficult and the video will not fit on a DVD anyway without serious loss of quality.

How do you access manual interaction? I don't see anything of the sort in preferences?
