Roxio Creator Starter Configuration

Roadroy

Question

I have a Dell 620 running Windows 7 64 bit that I bought in December 2011.When I start to run my genealogy program, Legacy Family Tree, I get a quick dialog box about the Windows Installer and then a Roxio

Creator Starter dialog box that says: Please wait while Windows configures Roxio Creator Starter. After several seconds another Roxio Creator Starter says: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. When I click on Cancel another box says: Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Roxio Creator Starter. Windows installer cannot continue.

Then my genealogy program starts but does not function properly.

Roxio Creator Starter does not appear in the Control Panel Programs so I cannot uninstall it.

Help!

Digital Garu,

Thanks for the leads. I tried your suggestion and it did not work. I then went to the Legacy Family Tree Users Group and did a search for Roxio Creator Starter and found the following:

This is a problem with the Windows Installer. Even though you may have

either removed the Roxio program from your machine or never installed

it there is still an Installer configuration file on the machine that

is starting the Installer when Legacy tries to open a common file used

by both Legacy and Roxio.

Please go to http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall

to run the "Fix-It" tool to fix the issue.

Sincerely,

I applied this FixIt and it cleared the problem.

Thanks again,
