Best Quality Dvd

stanbridge

Question

Hello there,

I'm new to TOAST so please bear with me. Everyone has said you get great results with this product but i'm yet to see this.

I have exported my project from FCP to compressor and have encoded out to best quality DVD for burn in TOAST 11.

I'm trying to burn a high quality DVD from the two MPEG 2 files - audio and video.

It doesn't look great - I suspect TOAST is encoding this file further when it doesn't have to?

Also when I go into preferences and select Best 720p (it's for standard def) it says at the bottom

"your video will be exported at 640 x 480 is this correct??

Please help!!!

Many thanks

If Toast reported that it was multiplexing rather than encoding after you clicked the burn button then Toast did nothing to the video quality. If Toast said it was encoding then click the Customize... button and then the Encoding tab and then the Custom button. Change Reencoding to Never.

720p is high definition. Also that preference is only for video that was transferred to the Mac from a TiVo and nothing else. Are you asking about TiVo Transfers?
