Native Audion Lost On Creator 2011

Navy Jack

Question

(Roxio Creator 2011 Pro) The xxx.mpg clip plays video and audio in a preview window when double clicked on my Windows 8 computer. (“Properties” says it opens with Windows Media.)

When I bring the clip into Videowave there is no “native audio”. In timeline, “native audio” shows a flat line.

I have to download from the camcorder to another computer and transfer the file, via external hard drive, to this Windows 8 computer. This is because the Win 8 computer does not have a 1394 connection.

Have brought in other .mpg clips (transferred via SD chip) and the audio is visible on timeline as fluctuating sine waves and the audio plays in Videowave.

Why does the audio play when the file is double clicked but does not play in Videowave. It seems like CineMagic has deleted the audio. So, I have tried three “New Productions” and changed file names to insure CineMagic does not affect the audio.

Suggestions??

Thanks

I haven't tried it in Creator 2011, but in previous versions, CineMagic excluded the sound from movie files. Open VideoWave (Edit Video - Advanced) directly, and bring in your movie file. Let us know if that works.

Grandpa - Thanks for looking at this. Tried it again. 1. "Edit Video-Advanced", 2."New Production", -4:3 -tried 16:9 before - just in case it mattered, 3. found clip on hard drive -clicked to load into videowave, 4.selected clip, 5. Play object, 6.video played -no sound, 7.goto Timeline, select "Show Tracks" click on "native" -"x" appears in box - "OK", 8. click on "native audio" track - got flatline - no sound, 9. back to hard drive -double click file small preview window appears with video and sound - so computer sound works and the file has an audio track. Rechecked with "timeline" -only "video" and "native" are active - blue dot. Suggestions?? Sorry I could not format this reply better. Navy Jack

Oops. I did not see the Windows 8 part of your post. Sorry. Jim has your answer in his post.

You never mentioned the Source of this clip???

Regardless, you should try converting it before using it in VideoWave...

Any Video Converter

HERE, is a popular one that many of us use.

Just pick something, even mpg, and run it through there then try it.

While Creatro 2011 is not Certified to run on Win8, use at your own risk ;)
