Blue Ray To Mp4

blueeyez

Question

What is the quickest way to make an MP4 version of a blue ray so my little one can watch it on an ipod in the car. I've tried just making a copy of the disc and straight burning to the dvd drive but it clearly doesn't compress it enough to fit on one disc, so it said no way.

I'm burning it as a disc image as I type to see what I can do with it from there but boy is it slow!

Is there a quicker way, first time I've used it?

Regards.

There is no way this can be quick. If this is available on iTunes the quickest thing to do is buy it and load it to the iPod from iTunes presuming there is enough space on the iPod's drive. If you must convert it then use the Toast Convert window and select one of the iPod presets as the output setting. The three available settings will create videos of different file sizes which will be shown in the window. If you have a El Gato Turbo 264HD USB device it will speed up the conversion process but it still takes quite awhile.

In the Finder try control-clicking on the BDMV file and choose Show Package contents. That should open a window where you can explore to find the actual video files to add to the Convert window with Video Files selected as the source. Of course, Toast only accepts unencrypted video.

Thank you, I tried this but I got a message saying something along the lines of 32 files are not recognised and it just quits. I am assuming I need something to decrypt my own blue ray movies first, then try again? Can I just emphases it's so I can record Brave that we have on Blue Ray so I can put it on the ipod for our 6 year old, nothing unto wards.

Love the movie Brave. Sorry I can't be of more help. We can't discuss removing copy protection in the Roxio forum and I don't know how in any case. Many Blu-ray movies are now sold to include a "Digital Copy." That's what you should look for in the future. At Vudu they are selling digital copies for some existing Blu-ray movies for $2 but that list doesn't include Brave. Disney briefly had a site where digital copies were sold to existing Blu-ray disc owners but they shut that down. I suppose you've seen that the SD version of Brave is $14.99 at the iTunes Store.

Thanks yes I have, but ( a long story ) we bought 2 copies of Brave on Blue Ray and out of principle I'm not buying a third. I am aware of the boxed films that have digital copies, ours ( both of them ) were pre-order and neither came with the digital copy.

Oh well, thank you for taking time to reply.

Regards.
