Movie (Avi) Becomes Shorter When Loading For Video Burning

When I load a (avi) file to burn a video DVD , the proposed file which appears in the appropriate window is SHORTER (some minutes) the original dragged from my Desktop. If I burn a DVD, the end of the movie is cut off……

If I repeat the operation, I get the same result. This problem is for some files only.

Just guessing but there likely is a problem with the video such as dropped frames at a certain point. Toast's encoder doesn't have error correction that skips past these breaks. The result is the encoder thinks the video ended before it actually ends. The workaround I can think of is to use Toast's Convert window to convert the video to Digital Video (DV) before using it to make a video DVD.
