Effects Thumbnails Missing

I just downloaded and installed Creator NXT and when I open the media slector, all the buttons have questions marks instead of the thumbnail showing the effect (See attachment). I tried to get help from Corel but that has been a waste. They just told me to uninstall and reinstall, tried it, it didn't work.

 

Operating System: Windows 8 64-bit

System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard

System Model: h8-1520t

BIOS: 8.18

Processor: Intel® Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHz

Memory: 16384MB RAM

I could not find a note I had about this...

 

Best Guess is a proper repair:

 

Turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

 

Now insert your Roxio Disc 1.

 

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

 

When the Install competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

 

Do it JUST like I listed and see what that does for you

I actually have that happen on my system, but I find if I actually select the transition by clicking on it, the question mark goes away, and the effect appears and "previews". Once I click on another transition pane, the question mark reappears on the last pane, but at least I can see what it does, and it "works" okay when selected and applied.

What Dewey says works and is OK for transitions because the name pretty much tells you what it is but for the text effects, not so much. I'll try your solution and let you know.

I have, just, the same issue mentioned by @disfan and when I click on them the question marks go away and the effects or texts, or Transitions or overlays appears and "previews". The effects, BTW, seams to work.

I installed Windows 10 (clean installation). None issue with windows 8.1

I tried the Jim_Hardin suggestion, but not result.

Please can you help me to solve this trouble?

kana: First, NXT3 Pro is not supposed to be compatible with Win 10...

Several of us are not having any issues running it on Win 10...

Since this Topic was started I do have a note that the MSXML4 SP3 needs to be installed/refreshed for the solution to this. Get the download HERE and let us know how you make out

I had already installed the MSXML4 SP3 but the issue still present.

 

May be, I have to upgrade from NXT3 to NXT5. I think it will be the best solution.

kana48... if the missing thumbnails is your only reason for upgrading, consider whether it's really worth it. I've not had luck with the "next" version fixing that problem. It may work for you. As posted above, clicking on the thumbnail should let you "preview" the effect, though it's not so effective for the text effects.

I endorse Dave Dewey-wright's caution.

If you "upgrade" to NXT 5 you will lose almost all of the functionality of MyDVD, since NXT 5 has replaced the Roxio version with a reduced capability Corel version of MyDVD.

After installing the MSXML4 SP3, you may need to run the Repair I outlined in Post #2.

Thank you for your kind support. The thumbnails issue still present. I have tried installing the ROXIO XNT5, but not solved. Than I have returned it even because the MYDVD version was very bad. Furthermore I have contacted the Corel Support, but neither them have been able to find out a solution.

By the way I will continue to work with my ROXIO NXT3
