I have the same problem I can hear the preview sound and record and live stream just a blank/black preview screen its really annoying me I have re installed the software and still nothing happens im using windows 8 on a sony vaio intel core i3 4 gig ram I got the right requirement's for the software please please please help some one Roxio support really sucks I don't think they even know what's going on with they're own creation. but the interesting thing is if I go to the help tab on the capture part of the software then select about then a box full of information comes up on the top tab if you select system its coming up as im on windows 7 (im not im on windows 8) now im pretty sure Roxio said on they're main home page that the Roxio hd pro is windows 8 ready compatible and before it was saying windows 7 it was coming up saying windows unknown so what's going on Roxio maybe we could take Roxio to a court for false advertisement

How about a coherent post that makes some sense. I haven't a clue what you are trying to say. Start your own thread and explain your problem in an understandable post.

hi I have solved the issue where you have a black/black preview screen on the Roxio but you can still record and hear the preview audio on window 8 (might be the same for windows 7) I am using a Sony Vaio core i3 and I even phoned sony aswell because my dvd ram drive was not working or being recognised on my laptop this is what's messed up when I had the updates for my windows 8 that's when everything was not working all you have to do is system recovery to an earlier date when it brings up the list to where you want to recover it to there should be one called directX something click on that and recover it from there it will take a while and when its done reinstall your Roxio and restart then every thing WILL work like I said im using windows 8 so im not sure how this will work on other operating systems try it and find out it will do no harm. and before any one says anything about it did not work well then you have a different problem because I spent 3 days 12 hours a day trying everything possible even had the red light on my Roxio which is meant to mean hardware failure (not software) and still got it to work by doing something so simple and if this does not work then im sorry you really really need a new Roxio or get legato because I tried everything you can think of if this help you then enjoy :)

Sorry for being dyslexic aint good at spelling or reading but that don't mean to say im dumb when it comes to computers so really don't judge me. I just was not relly good if some one put a pen and paper in front of me sorry for the inconvenience.
