Connect Steroe Reciver To Computer

Step 1 on page 23 says "Connect a stereo receiver to your computer using the Roxio Video Capture USB Device. I have my turntable connected to Phono on the receiver and the only RCA outputs on the receiver are for Video and Tape. When the turntable is plugged into those inputs, the output level is substantially decreased and Sound editor does not even pick it up. This is an old but not ancient receiver. The receiver does have a single RCA Audio out labeled MIX and I have tried that with no luck. Any suggestions?

Your turntable should be connected to the Phono input on the receiver. When you select phono to listen to, you should get a good signal on the Tape output, to feed into your capture device.
