Software Keeps Asking That I Plug In The Usb When It Is Already Plugged

I have had great success using Roxio Easy VHS to DVD for Mac. After not using the software for a month, I opened it as I usually have but it refuses to become active, telling me to plug in the USB. I have plugged and unplugged, checked everything, reinstalled the software, downloaded the most recent upgrade of the software...I still keep getting the message to plug in the USB.

Sorry, I can't think of any reason the device isn't being recognized. I'm presuming you're plugging it directly into the Mac and not into a USB hub. Maybe shutting down and then starting the Mac (not just restarting) will help.
