External Blue Ray Connection Requirements For Toast Titanium

Volnayguy

Question

Hello, I'm in the market for an external Blue Ray drive. I'm considering one from OWC (Other World Computing) and one on ebay. The OWC one I'm considering has the following statement under the drive specs: "

DVD burning with Roxio's Toast Titanium requires use of eSATA or FireWire 800 connection. USB connection is not supported.:

Is this true? The drive on ebay I'm considering has a USB 3.0 connection but no FireWire 800 connection. I'm not on a Mac Pro so eSATA is out. Any recommendations? Thank you.

I have a USB 2.0 Sony Blu-ray burner that works with Toast. So the issue with the OWC drive is with its hardware and not a Toast limitation. Personally I'd prefer Firewire 800. Toast will work with any drive that is recognized and supported by the Mac OS.
