Roxio Showing As ''sm Bus Controller'' In Device Manager, Not Detected By Roxio Software

JazzM

Question

Hello. I used my roxio for a few months and stopped using it for the past couple of weeks. When I tried to use it again today it was not detected by the roxio software or my T.V. I went into device manager after viewing another thread with similar problem and found that it shows as unknown device, I then uninstalled it and when I plugged it back in It appears as ''SM BUS CONTROLLER''. Any help would be apreciated.

FYI: I am using windows 7, I have the latest service pack of roxio software installed, I am using HDMI-HDMI connection, the YPBR light is showing but not HDMI

The SM Bus Controller has nothing to do with Roxio.

It is a part of the chipset for your motherboard.

I copied this note from the Intel website.

Note SMBus is the System Management Bus used in personal computers and servers for low-speed, system management communications. A SMBus controller is integrated into most Intel chipsets.

You need to fix that.

You can probably fix it by going to your computer or motherboard mfg's website and downloading and running The Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility. It could also possibly be an AMD chipset for which there are similar drivers.

Most mfg's websites will have the latest version for your particular computer/motherboard available for download.

As far as the software it's not available for download.

Hi Jim I no longer have the disc, can I download it off the internet instead?

Keep a eye out for a PM Personal Message, one from a Roxio/Corel employee, up top of the forums page, the envelope.

He lives in a different time zone and it is the weekend. ;)

Delete that entry first...

Then follow these directions:

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Unplug your RGC Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.
