Cineplayer Decoder Pack Install Issue

lsutrey

Question

I recently purchased Creator NXT Pro. I am having an issue with the Capture Video program. When I launch it, I get prompted with a dialog box titled "Roxio CinePlayer Decoder Pack." The message states: "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'Roxio CinePlayer Decoder Pack' disk and click OK." The "Use source" folder defaults to "1". I have extracted the large .exe file into the various components and pointed the installer at the CPDP.msi file in the CPDECODERPACK_434 folder, and when I click OK, I get a message that says "The file C:\...CPDECODERPACK_434\CPDP.msi' is not a valid installation package for the product Roxio CinePlayer Decoder Pack. Try to find the installation package 'CPDP.msi' in a folder from which you can install Roxio CinePlayer Decoder Pack." I am basically stuck here, unable to provide the program the file it is looking for, and when I click Cancel, I get another message that says "An installation package for the product Roxio CinePlayer Decoder Pack cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'CPDP.msi'. Please advise. Thank you.

Ok...quick update. I uninstalled everything Roxio related, rebooted, reinstalled, and now I don't have the issue with the CinePlayer Decoder Pack. That's the good news. The bad news is that I am not getting a Select Video Device Failed error after I launch the capture program. I'm using the Roxio USB composite / S-Video USB device that came with the Creator NXT Pro software (bundle). An suggestions? Everything I see on the forum is for the HD Capture Pro Device, not this one. Is there a log file somewhere that I could review to look for the problem? Thanks.

Never heard of that one with NXT or the Roxio Video Capture USB...

I have heard of it with the Roxio Game Capture HD Pro, and have not had a lot of luck with it there

What I suggest is this:

Unplug your Roxio Capture Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Download and install the
Uninstaller. Then run it in
Moderate Mode
to remove any traces of Roxio.

Then turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When the Install competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

Hi Jim - Thanks for the suggestion. I will try it and let you know. I have another question for you in the meantime. Is posting questions on the forum the only way to get technical support? I bought this software a couple of weeks ago, and went to install it this weekend. You've seen the challenges I've had. However, they are nothing to trying to get technical support from Roxio. I was supposed to get a warranty support code after I registered my software - never got it. I checked junk email, etc... There is no email address where we can contact support, and no telephone number for support that I have been able to find on the Roxio website. I called into the number where you can order over the phone and tried to get help - either a contact number or someone to send me my warranty support code. They were friendly and sorry for the trouble, but could not offer any help. I am truly flabbergasted by this experience. I got so frustrated on the phone today, I cancelled my order and asked for a refund. I still have to follow some steps to get the refund, but I'm going to try your suggestion first. Thank you for at least letting me vent a little bit. I so want to use this software...has more than everything I want or need to archive my VHS / 8MM library of tapes, but if I can't capture video, it's pointless. Thanks.
