Where Am I Going Wrong? Svideo Etc...

Question

Hi all, I have just bought a Roxio "easy" VHS to DVD for Mac. I have upgraded the capture software to 1.0.5. The rest of my equipment is as follows: MacBook Pro running OSX 10.8.4, 2Ghz Intel Core I7, 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 memory. Plus, I have a Toshiba RDXV60KB HHD/DVD/VCR device and an LG HDTV. The problem I have with the Roxio device is as follows: I have checked my cabling from the Toshiba device and I know there is SVideo and Audio coming out of the cable - it works fine if I plug it into the TV. When I start up the capture software with the Roxio dongle plugged in, I get 'no connection' for both the Audio and Video. If I plug the dongle in after I start the software, I get audio. A further bit of strangeness is that if I click 'Continue' all the way to the screen where it has the big red button that says "start recording", but click on "Go Back", the video appears in the preview window for about 5 seconds and then the 'no signal' message is displayed. (apologies for the formatting of this message... I'm having one of those days, I can't find how to do a cr/lf in this screen). Many thanks in advance. >Molecatcher<

I don't know why it didn't work. There are several topics here describing similar problems. See the private message I sent to you.

I'm having a similar issue just after I updated my Mac to Mavericks. I get audio and composite video, but no svideo. I see the "no signal" message. Do you have any tips? Thanks.

I checked all my cable and dongle connections and things are working again. Sorry for the bother.
