Photosuite Iii Album

I'm uncertain if I'm posting in the correct forum, but from what I have read the old MGI Photosuite became the new Roxio PhotoShow; so I'm giving this a shot first. If I'm in the wrong place, please aim me in the correct direction.

 

The issue I'm looking into is an old PhotoSuite III Photo Album. The album comes from a family members now deceased (virus infected) old computer. I am able to open the album using JZip in order to see the files. But, within each folder inside the album there is only a small thumbnail sized photo (.png format) and an even smaller file named "item". My suspicion is that the "item" file is supposed to be a link to the original full size photo. Can someone verify whether this information is correct or incorrect?

 

If I am correct, can you also tell me what directory the original files would be located in if I am able to get hold of the hard drive from the old computer and dig through it for the files?

 

Any information or direction will be greatly appreciated.

Roxio currently includes PhotoSuite, but I think it may be markedly different from the version you have judging from others' posts. I haven't used your version and not sure about the "item" files. If the png files have filenames attached to them, though,maybe doing a search for one of those names will lead you to the original folder? Just a thought. Maybe someone else will drop in with a better idea.

Good thought Guru. Unfortunately all of the thumbnail (.png) files are named "thumbnail". Since each one lives in its on seperate folder, they don't even append a number to the end of the name.

Whatever you read is incorrect. Photosuite has nothing whatsoever to do with PhotoShow. They are completely different programs with completely different functions. They were made by different companies originally

So, how is the old MGI PhotoSuite software related to any current Roxio software? I am certain that Roxio did purchase and does support MGI PhotoSuite as it is listed on their Tech Support page.
