Photoshow Unable To Find Cd Or Dvd Burner

Mary Jane

Question

Where do I start.... Hard Drive went down 2 months ago, got new hard drive and lost Roxio Photo Show 5 & Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5. Just by Luck I saved an email where I could download PhotoShow 5 again onto my computer and we bought a new Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5 (love both of these programs and I have XP) and downloaded it also. I made a Photo show, then made a DVD of the Photoshow as a sample to show what I was going to do for someone. They liked it and then added a few more pictures per their request and went to make a DVD again and this "Attachment 1" appeared after I choose "Playback on TV (DVD or SVCD). Thought I would try to make a copy of the old DVD to see if my Easy Media Creator 7.5 was working ok to make a Disc to Disc, another copy, and it would not read it. My husband tried many things thinking it was our DVD/CD readers, but he was able to copy from the Nero Program from Microsoft. Just before this all happened, something came up on the computer saying the computer did not like something I was trying to do (NOT related to PHOTOSHOW) so I closed it down and unplugged it and then started it up again. Later when I went to work on copying some music to the MP3 player this came up...."The CinePlayer decoders have not yet been activated. You must activate product before use. Please run the player that included these decoders in order to activate the product". Husband tried to figure out what that meant and he ordered the Roxio Creator Plus Disc Burning Software to also add because he remembered having that program on also before. Haven't got it yet so I decided to see what someone could tell us what they think might be wrong. I still wonder did a bug get in my computer, is something wrong with the CD readers, is something wrong with Easy Media Creator 7.5, do we need the Roxio Creator Plus Disc Burning Software????? Big Mystery. - Any Advice Will Be Appreciated!!

Wow, I think you have a bunch of issues. Where did you get the Easy Media Creator -- off e-bay or similar? That may have been a mistake.

Let's start with the optical drive. Go into Windows Device Manager and look at your optical drive. Is there a question mark or exclamation point next to it? If so, right click on it and delete it. Reboot. Don't worry about deleting it. Windows will find it and reinstall it when the reboot is complete. Did that get rid of the ? or ! ??

If so or if there is not icon on the optical drive as above, then try this (px engine)

Let us know if anything helps.

Husband here! Off Ebay but UNOPENED - No problems in device manager - PX engine does what?

We have 3 signins on the computer

1. Mary Jane Roxio program here

2. Photo Show Roxio program ALSO in here

3. Me

When in MJ, I can open all applications EXCEPT Disk Copier

When in Photo Show, I CAN OPEN Disk Copier but it will not find the destination drive.

The CD DVD drives are OK as we CAN copy from NERO.

I have "repaired" the Roxio program.

I'm not sure. How would we find out who has Administrative Privileges? I think Mary Jane does - has most of the programs in my signin. The reason there is even a PhotoShow signin is 3 years ago I had some troubles and Roxio told me to try it in a separate signin and we called it PhotoShow, however that wasn't the problem and we never use it. PhotoShow Program is in Mary Jane and is working just fine except for the fact the pop up says "PhotoShow is unable to find a connected DVD or CD burner. If you have an external DVD or CD burner drive, please check the connections and press 'Rescan'. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!! Mary Jane

If you want help, click on the blue link in Post #2, and install the updated PX engine.

    • Go to Tools --> Disc Information. (NO TOOLS LISTED)
    • The manufacturer & model as well as firmware revision would be shown on the right side.

Ignore the 7.5. You did not have to repeat it. We know it. We could have pointed to cdanteek's signature item 7 instead.

Did you click on the blue text? It will download the pxengine. Click on it to install it. Actually, since you seem to have an issue with that Roxio KB article. Select to do what cd has in his signature item 7 77 7 7 (see how disrespectful that is?) and work with that.

What is "HVE" and what "star" are you looking at? I want to remind you that you are working with VOLUNTEERS and not Roxio Support. Be nice or feel free to pay a minimum of $25 just to have support answer the phone. You have has issues with the program in the past,; perhaps a basic course on working with computers should be considered. If you are seniors, many libraries and other organizations have low or free classes.
