Creator Nxt Will Not Open

TuneSmith05

Question

I posted this yesterday and was directed to start a new topic here. So,...

Posted Yesterday, 11:39 AM

Hi, I've also been unable to open Creator NXT on my Windows 7 computer. I've been successfully using since mid-June.

I'd be happy to send a PM to Rox-Ralf, but I don't know his email. Was going to try deinstall - reinstall but there seem to be 2 many horror stories (10 times, no success?).

Thanks for help.

Oh good - someone's home on the forum. Are you all New Zealanders? I loved "Top of the Lake" Did you see it (5 episodes)

Back on topic - I just finished installing NXT and, once again, it didnt open.

Would a disc installation make any diff?

I would think that it is probably time for you to have a friend, who knows the basics of computers, help you out.

I was told to backup these files.

If you are talking about the 2 files that I told you to back up, they are NOT Nero files. Those are your Roxio NXT files.

These are the 2 files that I told you to back up:

RoxioCreatorNXT_LC36AXD0R13 June 20 (original)

RoxioCreatorNXTContent_LD04AXD0SQA June 21 (original)

I was told to backup these files.

NOW I reinstalled NXT and am back where I started from -'

It won't open!

Does anybody there have the ability and/or patience to get me back up, or do I have to start demanding my money back?

(Plus, nobody ever explained why this s/w became unusable.)

If you want to demand your money back, you would need to contact Roxio directly. This is just a users forum, and we aren't Roxio.

Still not sure I have my head wrapped around all of this

Your file, "RoxioCreatorNXT_LC36AXD0R13 June 20 (original)" is for the Roxio Creator NXT... You Do Not have the Pro version, correct?

You are going to have to get your Product Key. You can get it here with these, 4 steps:

1. Click on Roxio:

2. Click on My Account:

3. Log in:

4. Copy your Product Key:

For best results I am recommending that follow these processes: (good idea to Print this so you can check off each one as you go)

Download and install the
Uninstaller. Then run it in
Moderate Mode
to remove any traces of Roxio.

Then turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Right Click on your "RoxioCreatorNXT_LC36AXD0R13.exe" file and click on Properties.

Then click the Compatibility tab and Make Sure, nothing is selected!!!

Close that and Right click the exe file again and choose "Run as administrator"

When the Install competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

I realize this is extensive but I want to give you the very best chance of success ;)

Thanks so much for your efforts. They are much appreciated after 3 days of this!

I have uninstalled NXT with Revo, and it came up with "extra files(?) I cant remember what they call them. What do I do with these if anything.

It's a new day and I'm willing to take what we've done and finish, if there's someone there willing to try further.

Is it possible that Roxio could send a disc? Is that a possible solution?

Yes, those are the product keys for the original Creator NXT.

[it's not a good idea to publicly display them since they're your security measure, so I've obscured them for you]

I think I'm the only New Zealander here now. Top of the Lake had 7 eps, and Holly Hunter disappointed me after her performance in Grace.

I don't like to interfere since you're already engaged with the heavy-caliber gurus on this topic [ I just jumped in to obfuscate your product keys ] however they seem to be jumping out. I don't believe that running your install files from disc instead of hard drive would help any. We usually advise to do it from the HD.

I did wonder, how long do you leave it when trying to start NXT? There could be a minute or so of delay before it shows.

And does it appear in Windows Task Manager when you try to run NXT?

[press Ctrl-Alt and Del all together, click 'Start Task Manager' in the next screen, and have a look in the Applications tab of Task Manager. Your NXT should be showing there like mine is. Does it show there?]

If it's not working after all this, it could be you need to do a really thorough uninstall to get the odd bits of the program out of your system, followed by another install. The other gurus are experts on the uninstall/reinstall proceedure.

Brendon

I haven't heard of the program running but not displaying like that. You've answered the thoughts I had on it.

I think you need to take up Big Jim's offer of help through a reinstall.

I am not convinced that Roxio is so unconcerned about customer relations that they would deny me a refund on software just bought in June of this year and crapped out to the unusable and unfixable (??) in just 3 months time!! The Roxio site shows no such concern. Black and white: No refunds after 30 days!

Maybe someone on this board could advise how to get my money back.

Thanks.

You used it for several months successfully. There was something you did that made it stop working. You knew or should have known about the refund policy when you first bought it.

There is no one on this forum (not board) that can advise you on how to get your money back except to see it to someone else, or donate it and take the tax break.

Did we ever resolve the TuneSmith05 issue? I just found the stream today (10/14/13) and I'm having the same issue. I bought NXT for my father for Fathers Day of this year and I've done everything that has been recommended so far with no success. I agree with Jim that this may be a PC issue. I'm wondering if it is a NXT-Windows compatability issue. I've used 3 versions of Roxio EMC through the years and have bee satisfied until this one. This is why I switched to Mac!!!!!!! My dad is an older guy who is accustomed to using Windows so that's why I went with Roxio to upgrade what he already had (I did a fresh install). We are well within the minimum requirements: CPU: Intel Core i3 2.93 GHz, Windows 7 home, RAM: 6 Gigs, On-board video on a Gateway system (DX4831), 64 Bit system. I am disappointed with the level of customer service available considering I can't get a number for product support. If there is anything left to offer I'm open.

OK, here are the responses:

1) After checking, I found files from June 20 (my sale date) as well as the Oct 1 (yesterday's download). The Oct file has .exe suffix.

So, I guess I didn't eliminate them.

2) Did not re-install.

3) One download after initial purchase

4) Need assistance

5) No

6) Yes. (Didn't know I wasn't talking to Roxio until you told me). They assisted me over the phone - I explained that this was to replace s/w that stopped working; she something that made me believe it was a n/c transaction. That's why I was surprised to get their invoice. (I did not try to install)

Your answers seem to indicate that you are confusing "download" and "install".

Downloading means getting the program files from a website such as Roxio. You certainly do not want to "eliminate" them from you system and infact you should make a copy of them on a DVD or on another hard drive.

Install means using the files you downloaded to actually install the program on your system

How about the answers to sknis' questions 7 to 10?

Repairs don't count!

Try it this way:

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.
