Duration Of Video Not The Same After Recording.

araz

Question

Hello.

I just bought the software and i'm having a little issue. I record video from my VHS onto the software. When I finish recording it says 2hrs 20 minutes recorded. When I move onto the next step the duration of the video is completely different. Once it gave me only 11 minutes, the other time 1hr 20 minutes. I am not cropping the software.

Any suggestions?

Cheers.

Thanks. So when I set the duration to '3 hours' when the VHS is done recording and the duration time of 3 hour ends, the video is full. However, when the time is set to 3 hours, and I manually end the video at a desired time, after clicking next it chops a 2 hours clip to only 10 minutes. It has done this a few times.

It records for two hours, but when i stop recording and move onto the next page it doesn't use the full 2 hours...

I understand what you are describing but I have never heard of such a thing

Similar issues some have reported is a break in the recording (video noise) that cause it to stop but that is about it...

When that happens, the Preview Window would still look active but the recording would have stopped.

As I said, that is the only symptom that comes 'close' to what describe, but clearly NOT what you are describing!

I will try to run a test today and see what I can come up with!

Well I had a hunch, about noise, but it didn't pan out

I ran a recording, set for 10 minutes, and unplugged the RCA Video during the recording... I didn't note the exact time but around 5 seconds the Recording Stopped!

However the 'Recorded Time' vs the 'Set Time' clearly showed the difference!

I also tried disrupting the recording twice for 4 seconds but the blank screen is recorded and the full Time is still recorded...

Is there anything in my screen caps that jumps out to you?

Why are you posting in the Roxio Game Capture forum if you are capturing from a VHS tape? They are two completely different programs and each has its own capture device and forum.

What software package do you have? What does "not cropping the software." mean.

Sorry. I did not realize I was in the 'Game Capture' Section. You can move the thread to EVD3+ Here are the steps I took so far.

1. VCR is connected via component cable that was provided to the computer's USB.

2. VHS tape is in the VCR (both working)

3. Launch EVD3+

4. Select 'Record, Edit and Save' from the home screen. "Start new project"

5. Viewing video input from VCR.

6. Hit play on the VCR

7. Hit record on EVD3+ (Bottum right) Set recording duration to 3 hours (max)

8. I don't change any settings from 'file/preferences' - recording level is set to high.

9. Video is now recording.

10. Video records 2:59 in length.

11: I crop the video using the blue bar below the video footage. I drag the furthest white arrow to my desired crop.

12. Video now shows desired length.

13. Select ready to export.

14. Select 'divx' export option. (Do you recommend another one?) I just want a digital copy to store onto a drive.

15. When done exporting (.avi) file has a broken index, or is missing. (VLC, which is the media software) gives me the option to build index, which i do, and it works. But i have to do this every time.

16. This video (avi) also doesn't have the part i cropped out.

I will try to add pictures.
