The Words "Don't Touch" and "Bargepole" come to mind

Question

I have been a user of Easy CD/Easy Media Creator for several years (Adaptec) without any problems. V7 was good, 7.5 okay. The first problems I had was with v8. Especially with Video Wave and MyDVD. But an (bug fix) upgrade was coming out so I'd wait for that. So I waited and waited and nothing. Read all the messages, probably a problem with my ATI graphics Software. I did try to update to the latest one, but ATI didn't make it easy to get rid of the last version, and the new one had more problems.

So an upgrade to a deluxe version was nnounced. So i hoped that would cure my problems that a none existant bug fix upgrade might have. So I waited and waited. No upgrade happened.

Then yesterday, Version 9 and my prayers were answered (I thought). I installed it with no problems. Until I decided to try out a few of the programs. Which either wouldn't load, or came up with error messages.

So today I took the bull by the horns and removed all remnants of my old ati video card drivers and replaced them with the latest. That didn't work very well. The new one had dao problems, wouldn't load my ati tv and the remote kept coming up with error messages.

So I turned back my system (how I love go back). Reading more discussion group messages I took off both v8 and v9, cleaned and links in the registry and put on v9. Installed perfectly. Then I tried to use it and low and behold nothing worked. Error messages galore.

So the conclusions I've come to are.

1. After v8. Why was I so stupid. (Please give t back to Adaptec)

2. ATI make great video drivers (not). But it would be an idea for both companies to get together and sort something out, and stop blaming each other

3. Being a customer for years why would I fork out for a "customer upgrade" direct from Sonic when It would be cheaper to buy a new version in best buy without being "a loyal customer"

4. Might actually consider Nero. Something I thought i'd never consider.

5. Loyalty goes both ways.

Hi B or C or D

Yes you are right. Microsoft should individually go through all the millions of pieces of software out there and make sure their software works with every single one. AND NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

Let's not get into a p***ing match. :) When IE 7 is final, V9 will work with it. Roxio and Microsoft are currently working to make that happen. I think this thread is long enough; we are not going to convince you and believe me, you are not going to convince me. The answer was given to you and it is your choice to accept it or not.

Try to hit a moving target -- V9 and IE 7 ? :) Perhaps Microsoft ahould be the one trying out the V9 to make sure it still works with all the changes they are making. Do you know what a RC1 is? I have IE 7 RC1 on my computer and do not have any problems are you sure that you don't have something else on your computer that is causing problems? Things like Windowblinds, certain anti virus program updates, etc could all be potential issues. Keep the attitude to yourself. :D

There are millions people who bought Windows XP when it was first released... then Microsoft released SP1... then it's not enough... MS had to release SP2 which made millions users' exsisting software stop working... do you call it Windows XP with SP2 Post Release Candidate 3 then?

I was joking about RC 1 DUH!

Well Grandpa, It's not really like you told me anything worth while anyway.

If people didn't test betas, how do you think things would get done.

Maybe Roxio ought to try it....

I'm not telling you anything, because I no longer care if you fix your problem or not. And, I don't work for Roxio.

You have a beta software on your machine. Take it off, or don't complain because a program doesn't work. :):D:D

Some folks sugar coat it. I don't.

Yes, I do have the latest Internet Explorer beta software, along with a few other million people out there.

Please don't ask me to take it off. The amount of time and effort I had to go through to get it working properly.

Alan.

As someone who worked hard to figure out my problem, I removed the IE7 beta and all of my problems were gone. I had installs where some of the programs worked for a while then stopped and some installs where each app threw up an error.

Before you uninstsall IE7, you can try what someone else asked about and see if it works. It's called fiddlertool. They asked if anyone had tried it yet and I haven't seen a post yet saying so. It states: "IE7 Users: A new tool is available to change the User-Agent string, and optionally report the sites that block IE7 to Microsoft for followup.

Otherwise, run one of the following scripts and restart all browser instances to see the change."

Give it a shot and if it works for ya, please let us know. Well, even if it doesn't work, please let us know.

Also, we have been seeing some general problems with people running the IE 7 beta on their machines. Do you have that installed?

I never had any trouble with 7.5 It all started with v8. Looking at the discussion groups a lot of people had trouble with it, and it was suggested it involved ati graphics cards.

Roxio v9.0.088

Windows XP Home 5.01.2600 Service Pack 2

Bios: AT/AT Compatible 09/27/04

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.60Ghz

Memory: 1022.94MB

Display: All In Wonder 9600 Series (128)

Audio: Creative Labs SB Live Series

Hard Disk 1: 80GB.

Hard Disk 2: 80GB (Maxtor)

Hard Disk 3: 60GB (Acom External)

Disk Drive #1 Samsung DVD-Rom

Disk Drive #2 LG DVD Ram/+- R/RW Dual Layer

You should be good to go with that machine. Follow cdanteek's link. Hopefully there is information there that will help you.

I did not have problems with v8/v8 Deluxe, but the encoding was poor, when comparing it with v7.5. I used 7.5 for my video work. I may try v9 soon to see if it has improved encoding.

A bigger question is "What are your system specs?" If he had trouble with version 7.5, version 9 isn't going to fix it.

For many, many months they said there was going to be an update to v7 that never happened.

They do have a Full function 30 day free trial. They also announced a

major update in there version 7 Sept 1. They didn't rebox it and sell it as a new v8. Present users of v7 get the update or free.

I own both and they seem to play well together on my box.

I also run a ATI video card.
