Problems, Problems Everywhere

Question

So a few problems here with the HD Pro.

First is the biggest,

When live-streaming or even when I'm not sometimes, when I unplug or bump the USB cable it crashes my PC and it Blue Screens giving me an APC_INDEX_MISMATCH error. This I believe is to do with the drivers not working properly however I have tried repairing them 3 times and still no fix. I have had this occur with and without X-split being open. (I use X-split to stream) As you could imagine, casting a top level (AUS) esports match and having your PC Blue screen is frustrating.

Second is related to the above issue I believe.

When I open X-split I add it as a camera source which works fine but again if I bump the USB cord, it can make the display freeze and I have to unplug it and pug it back in before it goes again. This means that for some reason it is still telling X-split it is there but only outputting the last frame before it froze. When you disconnect a device a new display saying (Cannot connect to device) displays when as i said seems to mean that xsplit can detect it but cannot read it.

Third is the actual Roxio Game Cap program on the PC,

If I go to the Capture option, it comes up and all the options are greyed out except for the device drop down box. It also says No Signal in Red and the preview window is blank. The preview of the recent captures at the bottom works fine. The only two other buttons that i can click are Mute (Which actually does seem to toggle) and fullscreen, which does show you clicking it but doesn't actually do anything. All the menu's at the top (File, Tool, Help) all drop down when I hover over them and all the help options and the exit button under file works fine. However when I click Options under Tools, the program stops working and windows 'checks for a solution,' which unsurprisingly turns up nothing.

Edit: As I posted this, all the options became available again and the input swapped to component. The preview showed a blue screen however and my TV went blue. I attempted to rectify this by unplugging and plugging it back in, it went back to its old ways. :(

I have theorized that because my Game Cap program cannot be used, I cannot run a quick capture that is required to finish the driver install which in turn causes the freezing and APC_INDEX_MISMATCH issues. However I really have not got a lot of experience with the software so I am probably wrong.

Edit: Forgot to add my setup.

Console: Xbox

I use HDMI only

PC: ASUS Ultrabook

Core I5 1.7GHz

4GB RAM

500GB HDD

USB 2.0 & 3.0

OS: Windows 8

Also just to mention, I use the USB 2.0 port for the Game Cap as it does not register in X-split when using the 3.0.

Thanks in Advance to anyone who can help me out.

This is not solved, I don't know why it says it is? :S

Thats the thing, I posted this then closed the window for a few hours, came back at a time there would be more activity on the site and it said my topic had been solved and that I had replied to my own thread, somehow. If a Mod sees this can they please fix it up or delete the thread so I can post it again without the Solved tag.

That is a lot of words for what seems to be 2 issues

You have a bad USB connection either at your PC or at the RGC

You don't have it hooked up correctly

I can skip rope with my USB cable while using the RGC it doesn't even blink, let alone crash!

The Red No Signal means it is NOT GETTING A SIGNAL. Until it changes to the 'Green Ready', nothing can work.

Skip all the other things and work on getting to the "Green Ready". Try a DVD or BD Player for your HDMI Source.

Okay, with the RGC Program, I think it may be a software issue as it says no signal, but I open xsplit or OBS streaming software and the Game Cap is displaying perfectly in HD so I know that the connection is fine.

Just to check it is,

HDMI from XBOX to Roxio,

HDMI from Roxio to TV

USB from Roxio to PC

That is all the cords I have set up. And as I said, it works fine for other programs and I can see the display on the TV, but the RGC program seems to freeze certain buttons and crash if I try to open options.

As for the USB connection, it is a bit wobbly. I can move the USB side to side a little while it is in the socket, which causes it to stop reading it and disconnect. This is the main time it crashes the PC, but it only happens occasionally. Could this be the problem?

This is the 'repair process' I want you to do.

It is extensive and works best if you print out a copy to use as a checklist:

This is extensive, but it what I suggest...

Unplug your RGC Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Download and install the
Uninstaller. Then run it in
Moderate Mode
to remove any traces of Roxio.

Create a New User Account with Administrator Privileges.

Turn OFF any A/V & Firewall.

Reboot and log on to that new account.

Copy your entire disc to a new folder on your HDD.

In that new folder, right click on Setup.exe and select Properties.

Under the Compatibility tab, make sure
nothing
is checked!

Right click Setup.exe and select Open.

Allow it to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio not Windows)

Use the Default Locations!

NVidia GEForce GT 635M 2GB

Also just to mention, I use the USB 2.0 port for the Game Cap as it does not register in X-split when using the 3.0.

Also cheers for helping Jim, I got the program to work using your steps, and had a preview and everything but i closed and re-opened it and now is giving me the black/purple screen on preview but the screen comes back when recording. So it doesn't bother me that much.

I have had no crash issues recently which is good and the paper has seemed to work but we will have to wait and see. The looseness was the PC end.
