Windows Movie Maker Doesn't Work With Easy Vhs To Dvd Mpg Files

thebecster

Question

I successfully transferred my VHS tape onto my computer using Easy VHS to DVD Plus software. The resulting file is a .mpg file. Windows Movie Maker states that it can accept .mpg files for viewing and editing, but when I import my .mpg file into Windows Movie Maker, I get a black screen and no video. When I push the "Play" button, the video appears to be playing, but there's no picture. Does anyone have any suggestions for resolving this? I;d like to use Windows Movie Maker for editing the file.

Thanks for your help.

I was going to reply that I got the same result but then - after waiting for a long time (a minute or two) - WMM did display the mpg2 properly. That time is slow and I have a fast computer. If you have a slower computer, then your time will be much slower.

I agree with Jim, use the editing and output in VHS to DVD. You will find it as easy to run as WMM. Click on the little questions marks that will explain what the options are. and read the full users guide for more information.
