Cd Spin Doctor 6 Failure On Mac Os Mavericks

Mickey Bo

Question

I have just learned that my CD Spin Doctor 6 (in Toast 10) won't support its Audio Capture Feature in the new Mac OS 10.9 (Mavericks). I tried clicking on "Install Audio Capture Support" in the Spin Doctor drop down menu, but it failed.

To remedy this, I tried but was unsuccessful in downloading a Spin Doctor 6 driver update. My Mac wouldn't install it because it said it was from an unknown source.

Any suggestions?

If you want to capture audio from streams coming in over the internet, look for a different app. You might search macupdate.com or the App Store for suggestions. The update to CD Spin Doctor posted on Roxio's site is only for those who purchased Spin Doctor as a separate app. It doesn't work with the one bundled with Toast. The latest version of the one bundled with Toast is included in the latest Toast 10 update.

Forget about trying to install the Audio Capture Support. CD Spin Doctor may still be usable to mark tracks and apply filters on some existing audio files. But Roxio stopped keeping this app up-to-date several years ago.The newer version bundled with Toast 11 is completely useless.

Thank you, tsantee.

Spin Doctor was good while it lasted, but now I'm experimenting with Audio Hijack Pro. I'm finding that on every audio stream capture, however, there are a few seconds of ratty audio, so I'll search some other programs. My main wish is to record streaming audio in WAV 44.1 stereo, which Audio Hijack permits.

Best regards,

Mickey

Downloaded (and bought) Titanium 11 a couple of weeks ago, and now find out I can't capture audio streams (i.e. Youtube among others). Yet the sales pitch page on Titanium said this product does it. False advertising!!!

Then on top of it, there were no warnings about Spin Doctor crashing my MBP every time one clicks on one of the "options."

GRRRRRR!

Spin Doctor X has not worked since OS 10.6 and then it barely worked. Web Video capture doesn't work after OS 10.7. TiVo Transfer does not work with TiVo Roamio units. That's what doesn't work. There also are some bugs that show themselves in various places which keeps the forum active. Corel did issue a Toast 11.2 update with some fixes for Mavericks. That surprised me as there hadn't been any update for a year. If you bought Toast for features that don't work I believe Corel still has a 30-day refund policy for online purchases.

You posted this in the Toast 10 forum. CD Spin Doctor bundled with Toast 10 is very different from Spin Doctor X bundled with Toast 11. I don't know what, if any, of it is working in Mavericks.
