Jim_Hardin
Your not really grasping what is being said... Try it then we can discuss your options. Also make & model of your burner.
cdanteek
You obviously didn't know what I was using as you talked brands, said both + and - issues weren't heard of in years... both 80% claimed to work, and what burner I was using. You were not grasping what I was saying. Your advise of Win-pause.... makes no sense to me, but. as I told you, I am not the genius you think you are. Thanks for the help, now we're done. Hopefully you can help someone who can deal with an arrogant sob. I am cdanteek and I see we do have a communication problem. Best of luck to you.. cdanteek
I am using Verbatim DVD+R blank discs. My DVD burner is Windows Microsoft DVD burner as far as I know. After scouring computer that is all I could find. Sorry to be unhelpful, I just don't know that much about computers. We know what your using and doesn't work! I told you to use a DVD-R instead of a DVD+R, do you understand what I'm saying? Or do we have a communication problem?

Jim_Hardin
We should mention Brand here too... Generally speaking, we do let anything into our home unless it says, Verbatim (Singapore) orTaiyo Yuden (JVC) on it! Those are known to be quality media. The troubles with cheaper media is that they often fail because they are hard for a Player to read. Combine that with the low quality of too much on a disc and... I have not even heard any mention the old 'Plus vs Dash' issue in years! If comes down to this, BOTH claim 80% compatibility in the world of Players but that translates into 20% that won't work regardless of which one you use Switching from one to the other is simply not going to change anything when the problem is that you cannot put that much on a regular DVD... BUT cd suggested using a Dash, so why not do that Also I asked for the Make and Model of your Burner and you never provided that info... mistonia
I captured the video on my computer, burned it to a disc. I also exported it using the Roxio program (both using "record, edit and save"....... I only tried it with DVD+R and neither worked on the DVD player..... I don't have any DVD-R blank DVD....... I will try to purchase these, but didn't see that choice at the store. all they had was DVD+R, DVD writeable and DVD-CD.....
cdanteek
Mistonia, use Record, 'Edit and Save' capture one hour of video, you sit there and manualy stop it. Then load that one hour of captured video and burn it to a DVD-R blank DVD, not DVD+R DVD Disc! Tell us if that works for you?
bimicher
I burned a DVD+R 120 minute using "Record DVD" at the best quality setting and set it for one hour only. Said Project successful. I tried to watch it on 2 DVD players and still does not work. It is impossible to put 2 hours of video on a standard DVD with the Best quality setting. The DVD can only store 60 minutes of besr quality video. Forget about the marketing hype about 120 munutes of video on a DVD. You may be able to burn that much video on a DVd but it will be such poor quality to make it unwatchable. Capture the video first to your hard drive and then use the editor to split the video into 2 and burn each segment separately

mistonia
thank you I will try that, even though the DVD says it holds 120 minutes. All of my old VHS tapes are 2 hours, so I will have to split them and hope it tapes as I wish. I am assuming half of the DVD will be blank. Seems a waste.... For someone who has little knowledge of this kind of thing, it is so frustrating, especially when Roxio offers no technical support by a real person. Thank goodness for kind people such as yourself! Jim_Hardin
It is more likely that by trying to pack 2 hours on a DVD that is only meant to hold 1 hour is your real problem! When you try the, the quality has to be reduced so far that very few Players can read them. You already confirmed this when you told us it plays on your PC OK. (Most PC's use better drives than Players) It is easy to test! Trim your project to 1 hour or less and burn a test disc.
mistonia
yes, and I used the "Record DVD". I tried the Knowledge support, and it is telling me not all DVD +R DVD's work on all DVD players... which means I have to try another brand of DVD+R or other DVD players which really isn't an opion.
