Managing Files For A Project

flying low

Question

I have searched to the best of my ability and this seems to be the best place to ask my question. I was not able to figure out how to begin a new thread so I am jumping into this one. I apologize if this is not the appropriate place for this question, but it appears to be related to the question I have. I am using Roxio Creator 2010 on a HP laptop running Windows 7 and it handles all aspects of creating a DVD with no difficulty. My problem: I need help. I am trying to manage the files that are used to create a video project, using my video files, photos and music. My questions: 1. Is it possible to open an *.iso image file and then have the ability to edit it completely? If so, how? 2. If that is not possible, should I put everything in a single folder (for each project) on an external drive that can be moved between computers that have the Roxio program? Or what would you suggest?

I have reposted here my reply to your PM .

1) Yes it is possible to edit "burned" projects but you have very little control since all of your initial edits/adds etc, have been merged into one video file. You no longer can do any of the "project" edits directly. The iso file (basically just the image of of a DVD disc) cannot be opened in Roxio but the DVD can be "added" to a new video project

2) This is actually how I handle my projects. I usually gather all my source files (photos, videos, audio) into a project folder and also save my project folder to that files. If the project is large I may create sub-folders in that main folder.. You can then save that project folder to any location you want. The folder can be moved to another computer but your would have to create the same path to the folder on that computer otherwise you will get "missing" files messages. You can relink to the files on the new computer.
