hondarider
I'm now getting this error "Could Not Record to Disc Because Too Many Files Are Open" I updated from 11.0.4 (worked great) to 11.1. My DVD drive died so I bought an external Mashida DVD drive from OWC. Still testing to see what works. I got this error when trying to burn a video to -R disc. Toast 11 crached when I tried to use a +RW disc (I think that is the DVD drive). I attached a tiff file of the error. Any help would be greatly appreciated. tsantee
I don't recall anyone mentioning that error message before. You might update to Toast 11.2 to see if that helps (Roxio's Software Updates page). There shouldn't be any problem writing to +RW discs as long as the disc itself isn't defective. Make sure the drive is connected directly to the Mac and not through a hub. Which setting were you using in Toast?
hondarider
I'm unsure what you mean by what setting? The DVD drive is plugged into the iMac in the back. There might be a problem with the drive. I'll post after I replace the drive.

Toast has a Data, Audio, Video, Copy and Convert window and each of those has different options which I refer to as settings. You say you were burning a video but that can be done in many different ways depending on what you're starting with and what you want to be the end result. But none of that matters if the problem is the drive or the connecting cable.
hondarider
I was burning Tivo videos. I have had a good run of problem free editing until my DVD drive died. While I'm on the subject, can I edit, encode and save the video until I can burn it? If I can where can I find the information to do it? Thanks for input and the help you have givin me in the past. Tom Yes. Instead of clicking the burn button choose Save as Disc Image. It will create a .toast file that you later can burn to disc using the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window.
