I installed Creator NXT Pro yesterday and finally got the Video Capture USB device working (the USB for 2011 version finally failed)

When I tried to open an MPG file with Window Media Player 12 this is what I got in the event viewer log:

Faulting application name: wmplayer.exe, version: 12.0.7601.18150, time stamp: 0x518c6df8

Faulting module name: dsfOggDemux2.dll, version: 0.80.15035.0, time stamp: 0x4f86e998

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x000042b7

Faulting process id: 0x1a48

Faulting application start time: 0x01cf13ebf9f9a607

Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe

Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Roxio Shared\OGG_Flac Codecs\dsfOggDemux2.dll

Report Id: 402011e2-7fdf-11e3-ac24-2c27d7a9fbb9

Any suggestions?

Uninstallingg / reinstalling WMP (CntlPnl -> windows featires) had no effect.

Thanks,

JCN

I switched the default open program on MPG files to Windows Media Center and it plays these files fine (might even load MPGs faster than WMP)!

Did a complete removal of Windows Media features, then CCleaner, reboot and reset of Windows Media features (to "on").

Still the same error as above using WMP whereas WMC works for MPG.

Why should WMP be invokving a Roxio/Common/ codec (dsfOggDemux2.dll )? Beats me.

MS of course makes a freash download and reinstall of WMP under 7 a complete impossibility (except for Windows N - whatever that is -- a special version for NSA?).

I supposed this progress or a work-around of sorts.

BTW: Is there a Roxio Creator program equivalent to WMP that will just open and play an MPG file?

Best I can do is opening Roxio Media Manager explorer-like interface.

Even better set would be allowing MPG, etc associattion file type as that default program opener.
