mrwatt65
What did iDVD do? Did it render an HD DVD, or did you also also need a Blu-ray HD format program of some type? I have H-264/AVC, 1920X1080i, 29.97fps, Audio: MPEG4 Audio stereo 48000Hz video into movies made that I want to burn on to a DVD-R. if I purchase the Toast 11 Blu-ray Plug in, will it allow me to burn onto a DVD-R and get the HD definition video I want? Struggling with this.
mrwatt65
also, do I have to go back and install all the updates past version 11.0.1 that the CD came with?
tsantee
The Toast 11.2 update from Roxio's software updates page includes everything that is in the non-Pro version of Toast 11. So you don't need to install anything else. You might check the topic I pinned near the top of the forum about the Toast 11.2 update because I mention some other updates that are available for non-Roxio apps that are in the Toast bundle. Struggling with this. Yes, Toast 11 with the Blu-ray plugin will let you burn high-definition video to regular DVD media that is playable on Blu-ray players. The only limitation is that regular DVD media doesn't hold a lot of HD video; maybe about 30 minutes.
mrwatt65
Thanks Digital Guru for the reply/info. If there are any updates for my Toast 11 Titanium, post the link and I will get to them. For your information....I hope I made the right choice in purchasing Toast 11 Titanium. (I just got this iMac after using Windows PC's for 25 years.) I was looking for was a DVD Burner that would burn home video edited and completed using iMovie and burn HD 264, 1080 DVD's to give to family to watch on this DVD players. I used to use Power Director to make/edit the home movies and then the DVD Burner (in Windows) to burn my HD 1080 DVD's movies without any problems. With this new iMac, I am using iMovie and a program called Burn, but Burn only renders 720X480 DVD's. I was told a program called IDVD (Mac) is not longer available (if it burned HD 1080 DVD's?) so I have been searching for a program to burn HD 1080 DVD's and came upon Toast 11 Titanium. Did I make a good choice, or should I start looking again. PS... Is there any way to call Roxio (telephone number) about anything you buy from them? mrwatt65
Just read the stuck at 99% posts. Looks like Toast 11 Titanium is TOAST! Sorry I got this product. NO tech support, you're on your OWN with this company. How do they stay in business with such poor service. Doesn't the word get around?
tsantee
You've already updated to 11.2 so that's as far as it goes. Toast is the Swiss Army Knife of Mac burning applications. It does all kinds of stuff. As for burning HD video to DVDs, Toast can author Blu-ray HD format to standard DVD media as long as it isn't too lengthy to fit. To do this you need the Toast 11 Blu-ray plugin that comes with Toast 11 Pro (if you bought that) or can be bought from Roxio's online store if you purchased the standard version of Toast 11. There is no difference in the Toast 11 application itself between the Pro and Standard versions. The difference is the Pro version comes with extra things such as the Blu-ray plugin. When you create a Blu-ray HD video on standard DVD (or DVD+DL) discs it can only be played on a Blu-ray player. There is no way to play HD video on a standard DVD player. If you want to give copies of a HD video for people who have HDTVs but no Blu-ray player then copy them as h.264 files on a USB flash drive and they should be able to play them by inserting the drive into a USB port on the TV.
