Will High-Def Dvd Burned With The Hd/bd Plug-In Work On Standard Dvd Players?

ayyylmao

Question

I need to burn a DVD for somebody who plays their DVD's on a Blu-Ray player and sometimes a standard DVD player.

I know the plug-in will allow me to burn a DVD that will work on both their Blu-Ray Player and MacBook, but will it work on their DVD player?

Just want to know for sure before I purchase.

Need help super soon pls

Connor

A standard DVD player cannot play the Blu-ray DVD. You would need to create a separate disc burned as a regular DVD video. As for playing a Toast-burned Blu-ray video on DVD in a Mac, that requires a third-party play back application such as VLC or the Roxio Video Player which is included with Toast 11 via the Toast Extras menu.

Okay so is there anyway to get the DVD to work on both? I don't intend to burn a Blu-Ray disc for that reason, I need it to work on both. She's telling me she's had normal DVD's, movies and such that came out before Blu-Ray, work on her Blu-Ray set top.

I burned her a DVD before through Toast and it didn't work, but worked on her computer and DVD player, I'm assuming since it's making .vob files and not .mp4 or an AVCHD file.

Does that DVD work in your DVD player? Are you using DVD+R discs? DVD-R discs? DVD+/-RW discs? Some players work better with "+" discs than "-" discs, and others prefer the other type. And still others aren't happy with nearly any recorded disc, preferring only pressed discs. Counterintuitively, more expensive players are often more particular about what they'll play, while cheaper players will often play anything you put in them.

I just got the plug-in and tested the DVD. It works in a Blu Ray player (JVC SR-HD1250) I've got and won't work in a few other DVD players I have (Panasonic DMR EH-58 and JVC DR-MV150).

Using Verbatim DVD-R discs.

When you choose DVD-video as the format Toast creates a DVD playable on both DVD players and Blu-ray players. When you choose either High-Definition DVD-video or Blu-ray Video as the format Toast creates a Blu-ray format disc playable only on Blu-ray players. Sometimes an individual DVD or Blu-ray player has trouble reading a burned disc even when it should work. In those cases it may be reasonable to try a different brand of disc media or trying a DVD+R disc instead of DVD-R disc or vice versa. Sometimes the player is the problem and not the disc. Sometimes smudges, scraghes or fingerprints on the disc can prevent it from being played on all players.

In summary, DVD players cannot play high-definition video discs. Therefore, for greatest compatibility with multitudes of players, choose DVD-video as the format, recognizing this is standard definition video. However, sometimes a burned disc will play on one player and not on another. It happens.
