Burning A "large" Dvd-R Get An Error Message "disc Cannot Be Burned"

Nancy from AWI

Question

I am so frustrated with just simply making a movie in IMovie and burning it to a DVD-R from Toast Titanium 11. I exported in "medium" and the 1 hour 7 minute video (not HD- have an old school camcorder) had no problem burning to a 4.7 gb DVD. This is my first attempt so figured I would try to improve the quality and export to "large" and it only burns/records half of my movie even though when I drag my project to Toast, it says I am using 3.9 GB in large format and I am thinking there should be plenty of room on the dvd left over. I then get an error message saying can't burn the dvd and when I eject it, the dvd has half of my project. Any suggestions as to what I should do before I just make the content a lot shorter?

There shouldn't have been any problem. I suggest choosing Save as Disc Image (Toast File menu) instead of clicking the burn button. When that is finished burn the resulting .toast file to DVD using the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window.
