Getting White Screen In The Mmiddle Of Edited Videos?

WillP

Question

Hello.

When using the "Edit Video-Advanced" function, many of the videos I "export as".....contain sections of video that are solid white? Typically it comes in the middle of the video....sometimes at the end. Most of the videos I output are a combination of pics and video....the video is either from my flip mino HD cam (720p H.264) ....or my cannon T3i camera (which is usually the source of the pics as well...vids are 1080p .mov files).

The problem itself isn't entirely new. When it first started, I'd tried closing and re-opening the program...or rebooting....and it always seemed to work on the 2nd or 3rd attempt. No longer.

I've tried adjusting my edits...rolling the clip slightly ahead or behind the original mark....figuring perhaps it was an issue related to H.264 B-frames? No help.

Let us know what you see after you convert the mov files to mpg2 and using those in a production.

I'm almost thinking that there are gaps in the project that you are not seeing when you output the project. . In the timeline view, stretch it out to see if any gaps between segments show up. or look at the project in the story line view to see if there are blank boxes and/or double transitions, etc.

As you can tell, yours is an unusual problem so we have to grasp at straws. .

Any possibility of cutting out a section of the video that shows the white space and uploading it to an on line file sharing site?

"As you can tell, yours is an unusual problem so we have to grasp at straws."

Understood!

I appreciate that my problem is unique...and certainly appreciate the assistance in trying to solve the problem. That said, I can assure you, the issue isn't caused by gaps in my time line.

Per your request : https://www.dropbox....3 Auto Show.mp4

Let me know if helps!

Thanks again.

Oh...and the source video used (AKA...the 30 seconds of all-white screen in the middle of the production)....is H.264 video from the flip mino HD cam.

Can you create a short project with the problem and then upload that to dropbox. It should include the videos, pictures and the project file. We could then try to duplicate your problem.

While we think up an answer, do you have the latest version of Quicktime on your computer?

Try using a free third part converter to convert the mov files to mpg2 and try using those. There are several. Historically Creator has had issues with mov files - usually in the audio and usually from dSLR cameras masquerading as camcorders.

You said use as "export as" what are you exporting them as? How are you watching the exported videos?

A couple of other questions (olease answer each)

1) Are the drivers for your video card up to date?

2) Have you tried to encode (render) in the software settings?

3) What else do you have running while you are encoding -- antivirus?

4) Are your images and videos on your system drive or on a USB attached drive?

5) Do you do regular maintenance on your computer - get rid of junk and temp files and DEFRAG?

Thanks for the speedy response!

Latest version of Quicktime --Yes.

Certainly willing to try converting the .mov files to mpg2 first...but .mov files by themselves have presented no issues....only when they're exported as part of a production containing .jpeg and/or H.264. The white screen also appears w/ most H.264 productions...containing no .mov files.

what are you exporting them as? --I've tried a varitey of different file types...the AVCHD 1080i and 720p presets...the Windows Media 9 1080p preset...the MPEG2 1080p preset....and a few of my own templates.

How are you watching the exported videos? --mostly on my PC...using VLC or Media Player Classic.

1) drivers are up to date

2) I 've tried to render both via hardware and software

3) Yes antivirus is typically running...I'll try w/o and see if that helps. Will advise.

4) All images and videos are in my internal HD

5) Fairly reg maintenance....PC is only 3 months old...

When do the "white screens" appear? For an photo image or for video clips or for both?

When do the "white screens" appear?

Almost invariably between video clips....not pics.

As a generic example...if a production had the following format:

Open w/ 3 still pics in succession...followed by four or five seperate video segments ...followed by 1 or 2 more still pics....then closing titles.

The initial still pics will be fine...but at least one of the video segments will be all white...then the last still pics and titles...will again be just fine.
