Critical Registry Keys Needed For This Application Are Missing

SST

Question

Restarting this topic as the old one is locked. When I click on the Roxio Creator 12 icon on my desktop I get a pop-up box with the message in this topic title. I tried running the registry fix for this, but it did not help: http://corel.force.com/roxio/apex/KBArticleDetailPage?id=kA060000000L4fw&lang=en_US Did a complete reinstall, but got the same message. Running Windows 8, 64 bit. Interestingly, Roxio Creator 2 does not appear my list of "uninstall" programs, so I couldn't go there to run "repair". The bonus DivX programs do show, however. Can anyone help? Thanks.

What old topic is locked?

I assume you mean Roxio Creator 2012 since there is no Roxio Creator 12.

In any case C2012 is not compatible with W8.

I found the "This Topic is Locked" string at http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/76994-critical-registry-keys-needed-for-this-application-missing/

Yes, I have Creator 2012. Sorry for the incorrect typing.

Found the registry fix for C2012 at http://corel.force.com/roxio/apex/KBArticleDetailPage?id=kA060000000L4fw&lang=en_US

Searched and confirmed your statement that C2012 is not compatible with Windows 8. I did not know that as it was (mostly) working for me for the past 10 months when I reinstalled after doing a Windows 8 upgrade. Got the registry error a few weeks ago when I had to do a Widows 8 reinstall. I guess I was just lucky for awhile.
