Audio Rip Problem After Upgrade To Windows 7 Sp1

lowellgeneral

Question

Hi all, long time no talk. :)

Creator 2012 audio extraction isn't working; this is *not* a copyright protections issue-- these are rips from my own videos.

I've been using Creator 2012 for a couple of years with Windows XP Service Pack 3; just upgraded to Windows 7, and today I added Service Pack 1 to see if it would solve the issue. No go.

The extractions look like they're happening, and a .wav file is created, however the file is flatlined on playback.

Any suggestions? Or is this a "time to upgrade" level problem?

All help appreciated.

Best--

D.

No prob, guru, here's my blow-by-blow:

right click on video clip, choosing "extract audio."

choosing file to store in, and saving.

file shows up as a .wav in the appropriate location.

Double click .wav in "media selector" and no sound.

Drag .wav into either music or narration track (I've tried both)

right click on dragged track to show mixer; flatlined. Track display flickering like loading, but never loads.

tried playback in another program (VLC Media player), got nothing.

If you have any suggestions to offer, cdanteek, please make them. If you think it's a computer issue, do tell. Creator 2012 has functioned beautifully for me for a few years. Can only attribute the lack of rip functionality to the recent upgrade. Out of ideas.

I've used this for years.

Thanks, Brendan, appreciate your time/effort, but this was not the problem; nor can we find any issues with the PC sound settings.

No time to wait-- already backed up in editing by about 12 hours, so purchasing the upgrade... At least it's out there on the forum in case someone else has similar issues. Best to all--

Brendon, can you tell me more about how to turn on audio inputs? In "Edit Video Advanced" I can't find anywhere on the mixer to turn on anything... I assume you're talking about right clicking on the dragged in audio clip...? When I open the mixer in this way, the display is flatlined, and also the left and right track display box is flickering-- I have never seen it do that before. Like it's loading, perhaps, but then it never loads.

Hi Lowell,

I'm talking about going to your audio mixer through the speaker icon in the system tray at the bottom right corner of the screen. [where the mouse pointer is in this clip]

These vary from machine to machine, but in the one I'm on at the moment [in Windows 7], clicking the speaker icon brings this display,

and then clicking the Mixer button expands it to this:

On this machine the mixer was showing the System Sounds input was muted. Click it to clear that, and unmute any other inputs or adjust their volume here.

I don't know if this will help you with whatever is causing your problem, I'm just suggesting you check to make sure none of your inputs is muted or has the volume down.

Regards,

Brendon

cdanteek Guru, I'm in "Edit Video Advanced."

Also, when I right click on the file for playback in "Media Selector," when I listen, I got nothin'.

Step by step would be helpful. Thanks!

Check your audio mixer settings. When I went from XP to Windows 7, I found all sorts of inputs weren't turned on by default and I had to go turn them on.

If the WAV file is being created it likely shows the software is working okay, just the audio isn't getting fed into it.
