IzaacJ Posted February 8, 2014 Report Share Posted February 8, 2014 Hello. I'm having big problems with my setup and I'm unable to use my TV for the recording (in another room than the computer). My HW is this: BenQ T2210 HD Full HD monitor with PC-VGA, DVI and a seperate audio input. Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 w/ 8 GB RAM and GeForce GTX 570 running Windows 8.1 Roxio Game Capture HD Pro I have got the software up and running and it worked when I tried with the TV (temporarily put it by my computer) The Xbox 360 works perfectly with my monitor w/o the GameCap device, using HDMI from Xbox to a HDMI->DVI adapter. The monitor recieves DVI-A input according to the Xbox 360 and of course Full HD. As soon as I put the gamecap in between the Xbox 360 and the monitor I get no visual at all, not even with a resolution of 640x800 set on the Xbox. Any tips or ideas of how to solve this, or do I need to get the money for a new Full HD monitor with an HDMI input? Regards IzaacJ EDIT: Added some to make it more clear what I've tried. WORK: PS3 + HDMI->DVI + Monitor DOESN'T: PS3 + HDMI + RGC (HDCP causes this, I know) WORK: X360 + HDMI->DVI + Monitor DOESN'T: X360 + HDMI + RGC + HDMI->DVI + Monitor WORK: X360 + HDMI + RGC + HDMI + TV DOESN'T: PC + HDMI + RGC + HDMI->DVI + Monitor This clearly shows that the monitor SHOULD NOT have issues with HDCP since it works flawlessly with the PS3 HDMI->DVI. For the fun of it, I include the original way I typed this ^#!& (coder by heart): PS3 + (DVI)HDMI.IncludeHDCP + Monitor == TRUE PS3 + HDMI.IncludeHDCP + RGC.Output.ForceHDCP == FALSE X360 + (DVI)HDMI.ExcludeHDCP + Monitor == TRUE X360 + HDMI.ExcludeHDCP + RGC.Output.ForceHDCP + (DVI)HDMI + Monitor == FALSE X360 + HDMI.ExcludeHDCP + RGC.Output.ForceHDCP + HDMI + TV == TRUE PC + HDMI.ExcludeHDCP + RGC.Output.ForceHDCP + (DVI)HDMI + Monitor == FALSE Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
IzaacJ Posted February 10, 2014 Author Report Share Posted February 10, 2014 Wait a minute, the RGC does NOT accept the PS3 HDMI output due to HDCP, but my monitor has no problems showing PS3 gameplay through HDMI->DVI. That feels a bit weird. What else could be the problem? Edit: Just tested putting the RGC between my monitor and PC and I get Out of Range on my monitor with every resolution (tried from 1024x768 up to 2048x1536). Could it be my RGC that's the actual problem? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ogdens Posted February 10, 2014 Report Share Posted February 10, 2014 The RGC worked fine when you used the TV......... Try the splitter. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
IzaacJ Posted February 10, 2014 Author Report Share Posted February 10, 2014 I could try the splitter, but there's none that I can test with. No nearby stores have splitters under 600SEK (~60€) which I think is #$^@ much.. Thats as much as I payed for the RGC. And ordering one online is risky since I just moved. It could take weeks before it arrives, and if it doesn't work I cant return it (have to be sealed package to be able to return, and return to be done in 14 days). I also edited the first post. I doubt it's the HDCP causing this from my testing. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ogdens Posted February 10, 2014 Report Share Posted February 10, 2014 Sorry about that, 6 dollars in Canada http://ca.cellphoneshop.net/hdmisplitter.html?gclid=CJ7a6PzKwrwCFYkWMgodoisAFA Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Jim_Hardin Posted February 10, 2014 Report Share Posted February 10, 2014 I too doubt it is the RGC (they rarely fail) One other thing is to hook up a completely different source - DVD or BD Player and try that. Anything with HDMI or Component output as you just want to see if it will come out on your TV! (may give you the 'Signal Protected' message but that is not what we are trying to test Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

IzaacJ Posted February 21, 2014 Author Report Share Posted February 21, 2014 Thanks for the update Izaac! Hope that will do the trick for you My pleasure On another note, I started to worry if the issue could've been that the screen only is DVI-A compatible, but I found on BenQs site that my screen is actually HDCP compliant through DVI-D. So I guess the issue *could* be in my HDMI->DVI adapter. EDIT: Checked my HDMI->DVI adapter through the store where it was purchased, and it's actually a DVI-D adapter so might not be the adapter either. Ah well, I'll just have to wait for the splitter xD Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Jim_Hardin Posted February 21, 2014 Report Share Posted February 21, 2014 The Adapters can be hit or miss... I got lucky and plucked one off the display at MicroCenter and it worked Others have not been that lucky Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Jim_Hardin Posted February 9, 2014 Report Share Posted February 9, 2014 But you do get normal picture in your RGC Preview window??? The Roxio HDMI output from the RGC Device includes HDCP... While I would not have though this would effect an HDMI to DVI adapter, some users report that it is an issue The workaround that should work in this case is to place an HDMI Splitter BETWEEN the Xbox and the RGC... Then use one HDMI to the RGC and the other HDMI to your TV and use the HDMI-DVI adapter there... The thinking is that the split takes place before the RGC so it will be the same as a straight hdmi to your TV! Of course one user says that even that does not work with his... Since you are using a LONG cord, I would recommend you use a POWERED splitter instead of a passive. In any case, if you can't borrow one to try, make sure you get one at a place that you can return it should it not work out Please let us know how you make out with this??? IzaacJ Posted February 9, 2014 Author Report Share Posted February 9, 2014 But you do get normal picture in your RGC Preview window??? I do if I set the Xbox 360 on 1080i, but that means I have to restore to factory display setting when I'm not using the RGC, otherwise my monitor doesn't show anything. I will see if I can manage to get my hands on a splitter, it would be a significantly cheaper option then buying a new monitor, the only issue I can see with that solution is that the RGC device does not accept the display resolution setting 1920x1080 from the Xbox, but my monitor does. The RGC device only seem to accept the 1080i setting, which my monitor does not. It is worth a try thou. Regards IzaacJ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Jim_Hardin Posted February 9, 2014 Report Share Posted February 9, 2014 No... the RGC device accepts anything you send it ... Your TV is the issue here not the device or software Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
IzaacJ Posted February 20, 2014 Author Report Share Posted February 20, 2014 Sorry about that, 6 dollars in Canada http://ca.cellphones...CFYkWMgodoisAFA I actually ended up ordering that one $8.59 with shipping to Sweden so a big thanks for the tip It should arrive next week and hopefully it'll work perfectly Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
IzaacJ Posted February 9, 2014 Author Report Share Posted February 9, 2014 No... the RGC device accepts anything you send it ... Your TV is the issue here not the device or software Oh, that's weird since I get red no signal in Roxio software with that setting on the Xbox. Thought the device only accepted 1080i, not 1080p or a non standardized resolution Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

IzaacJ Posted February 26, 2014 Author Report Share Posted February 26, 2014 Okey, CellphoneShop CA really messed this up. They cancelled my order today due to not getting the payment. The money has been reserved on my account for a week. Talked to my bank just now and was told that the money has been reserved, awaiting a transaction confirmation from CellphoneShop. I really hope that this will be resolved. Edit: Got my money back yesterday. Ordered a new splitter from a Swedish site even thou the price was way above what I would've liked. Should arrive soon and hopefully solve this issue. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Question
IzaacJ
Hello.
I'm having big problems with my setup and I'm unable to use my TV for the recording (in another room than the computer).
My HW is this:
BenQ T2210 HD Full HD monitor with PC-VGA, DVI and a seperate audio input.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 w/ 8 GB RAM and GeForce GTX 570 running Windows 8.1
Roxio Game Capture HD Pro
I have got the software up and running and it worked when I tried with the TV (temporarily put it by my computer)
The Xbox 360 works perfectly with my monitor w/o the GameCap device, using HDMI from Xbox to a HDMI->DVI adapter.
Regards
IzaacJ
EDIT: Added some to make it more clear what I've tried.
WORK: PS3 + HDMI->DVI + Monitor
DOESN'T: PS3 + HDMI + RGC (HDCP causes this, I know)
WORK: X360 + HDMI->DVI + Monitor
DOESN'T: X360 + HDMI + RGC + HDMI->DVI + Monitor
WORK: X360 + HDMI + RGC + HDMI + TV
DOESN'T: PC + HDMI + RGC + HDMI->DVI + Monitor
This clearly shows that the monitor SHOULD NOT have issues with HDCP since it works flawlessly with the PS3 HDMI->DVI.
For the fun of it, I include the original way I typed this ^#!& (coder by heart):
PS3 + (DVI)HDMI.IncludeHDCP + Monitor == TRUE
PS3 + HDMI.IncludeHDCP + RGC.Output.ForceHDCP == FALSE
X360 + (DVI)HDMI.ExcludeHDCP + Monitor == TRUE
X360 + HDMI.ExcludeHDCP + RGC.Output.ForceHDCP + (DVI)HDMI + Monitor == FALSE
X360 + HDMI.ExcludeHDCP + RGC.Output.ForceHDCP + HDMI + TV == TRUE
PC + HDMI.ExcludeHDCP + RGC.Output.ForceHDCP + (DVI)HDMI + Monitor == FALSE
