Software Crash On Windows 8

dunbrine47

Question

Recently me and my friends decided to start a collab Let's Play Channel. One of my friends purchased the HD Capture Pro. Yesterday it seems that I'm on A/V duty for the group. While setting up the capture card, the hardware (passthrough) portion of the capture card is working excellent. The software on the other hand is giving me problems. The first issue is getting the software to recgonize that I am using the component cables. Some times it will figure this out after a few minutes. Some times I have to restart the game console (Xbox 360)/software. Once it does recgonize I am using component, I try to go to the either the options button or the tools menu. Program crashes every time.

The specs on the laptop I am running the software on meet and slightly exceed the posted min. requirements. Even though the system requirements say Windows 8 can run the program, I have my doubts.

Nothing jumps out in your DxDiag...

Did you try the Repair procedure?

I know mine can take a while If I change from HDMI to Component or back. If I get impatient, I close and restart the RGC software rather than the device.

I seem to recall the Xbox should not be run on any Auto Sense setting but always on the output you are using. I am a bit curious why you are running an Xbox with Component?

Component is the cable my friends have (I don't think they have spare HDMI cables around, (I know what to get them for their birthdays now).

I can't perform repair procedure at the moment (friend did not bring it to our meeting).

I'm going to try repair and use HDMI cables and see if that works.

Once again, it will be awhile before I can put this support to good use.

It SHOULD work with Component! But some have had issues using non -"MS Xbox" component cables...

If you have any other source you could hookup with component it would be a good test ;) In my screen cap above, that is from a DVD Player which I often use in testing -_-

Your specs are questionable - run dxdiag and save the file, then attach the file here.

Other things to check - make sure your graphics card/chip is set to Standard Settings in all areas!

You should try a proper repair to make sure nothing is corrupted:

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Unplug your RGC Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.
