Are you burning directly to a DVD or to your computer and then to a DVD. Burning to a computer is the best way of doing it. You can look at the capture to make sure you have the visual part of the capture.

Start off by making sure that your computer meets the minimum requirements including all the programs installed. including Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player.

When you installed the program, did you have your antivirus active? Did you install the program BEFORE you plugged in the USB Analog to digital converter?

What are you using to play the DVD? Try a couple of DVD players. and perhaps a different computer program (VLC is excellent and free).

You will of course want to good good quality DVDs. memorex and store brands are bottom of the barrel; TaiyoYuden *on-line sales only) , Varbatim and usually Sony are good.

Hi Digital Guru

Thank you so much. No I copied to my computer and sent it to My Videos, as I had done with my old computer and was able to view them. This time as I copied I could see the video playing. When I went to My Videos to show my wife a bit of what I had copied it would only play the sound. It says it is an MPEG file. One of the things I googled said that format was incompatible. I am just barely computer literate so this stuff is very hard for me but I am determined to get my old videos off the tape and into my computer. My plan is to then copy them to another storage devise, then edit them into viewable pieces. What is VLC? Once again, thank you for any help you may be able to provide. Phillip C. Southeast Texas

I don't know what you googled but but the "answer" is wrong. a mpeg file is definitely compatible.

VLC is a software video player (like Windows Media Player) that will allow you to play many different video formats on your computer. Many of us consider it much better then any other player. You can download it from www.videolan.org; it is free.

Perhaps if you describe how you are hookedup and exactly the steps you are taking, we can spot your problem.

Just wanted to say thank you to all who had input. I got around the problem by taking the videos back to the Roxio program then exporting them back to my computer but this time under advanced settings I changed them from MPEG to WMV. It is a long proses but all is well

There is really no reason to do that extra step, in fact you may lose quality doing it that way. Simply download the VLC player and there will be no extra rendering required as it will play the mpeg without any problem
