Hook Up To Vhs Player Not Working?!

ktjustsmile

Question

Hi I'm new to this product. I have all of the required items to easily record VHS to DVD. I hooked up cables to VHS with.. Audio OUT and Video OUT.. checking connections by color and manual. The VHS player starts to play the tape (viewing this on my MAC) and then either shuts down (powers off) or spits the tape back out. sometimes damaging the tape. Can the VHS player not handle this connection? and is the S-Video Adaptor option Better suited?? Please any help is wonderful!

As far as I know the VHS2DVD device does not control the VHS player so it cannot be responsible for the VHS shutdown. What happens if you just play the tape whithout any connection to the device. I have had the tape player shut down sometimes especially for older tapes that have been sitting unused for a long time. or if the tape player has not been run for some time. It has nothing to do with the program or capture device or connections.

Older tapes get sticky as can the capstans that control the tape playback. Learn about cleaning the capstans using denatured alcohol and q-tips. Before starting playback fast forward the tape to the end and rewind the tape. This helps provide steady playback, too.
