Easy Vhs To Dvd3 Plus Stopped Working?

goddi

Question

Greetings,

I have been using the Easy VHS to DVD3 Plus for a few weeks. Today, I was digitizing a tape. Then, I closed the program and wanted to start another tape. When I click to start the program, the red Roxio graphic flashes on the screen but nothing else happens.

I have deleted the Roxio icons in the Device Manager/Sound and did a Repair. But that has not helps. I only get the flash of the Roxio graphic and nothing else.

I also uninstalled the program and reinstalled it. But it still will not start.

Any ideas on what is going on???

Thanks... Gary

But it isn't working now is it?

So this will help determine if it is your Source, or your Device or maybe the Port or even the Cable :huh:

It is why we TEST!

============================

Ok...I plugged the Roxio device capture device into my VCR and the program will still not open. I have used this VCR with the Roxio before and it worked just fine.

I tried a different USB port and that did not make a difference.

The Device Manager/Sound shows both Roxio USB's are 'working properly'.

Remember the part about trying a Different Source???

=====

Greetings,

Well, I should have mentioned it, but I did try other 'sources', but the same result. All I get is 'no video signal'.

Hard to figure out what is going on with the program. It had worked before...now, it does not.

I replied to the tech people who sent me the updated install file, but no response yet.

What part of Post #7 do you not understand???

You tested NOTHING you just repeated the same thing all over again and did you really expect a different result :huh:

===================

Easy Jim, I'm trying my best. :wacko: Well, it said to try another source. And by that it seems that it means anything that is other than the Hi8 camera I was using. I tried 2 VCRs and neither made any difference. I don't have any other sources. So 3 different sources were tried. But you have not answered my question that shouldn't the program open up whether or not a source is connected to the Roxio device?

Got it! I forgot you were starting with a camcorder (your not the only one I am trying to work with here ;))

That is about all I can suggest. We all know the program works, you have even seen that, so why it stopped on your PC... No idea :(

====================

Ok...So is there a special way of uninstalling it so I can start from scratch? I have uninstalled it the normal way. Perhaps, there is something else to remove to get it completely removed. This is really crazy. You'd think that if it is uninstalled and reinstalled, it would work..... It really is a pain that Roxio or Corel dumps you after 14 days.

Try this (from fellow user Jim_Hardin) follow exactly.

Unplug your RGC Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Download and install the
Uninstaller. Then run it in
Moderate Mode
to remove any traces of Roxio.

Then turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When the install completes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot. Plug in Roxio USB.

As an update to this, a Roxio tech person spent 2 hours connected to my PC to try to find out why the Roxio program will not detect a video signal. He basically did every test that I had tried. He said he will send it to their 'engineers'. No response from them yet.

Greetings,

Yes, I had done just that. I did not get any 'check for updates' from Roxio. But, again, nothing but the little red Roxio graphic flashes on the screen for a millisecond, then vanishes and then nothing....

The Sound Editor program that gets installed at the same time as the Roxio device works fine.

Pretty frustrating...

See if you can open it from your program files in your C drive.

================

I have tried that, too. Same result. Just the quick flash of the red Roxio graphic.

And, Sknis, it is not minimized to the Desktop.

Thanks for the ideas, but no luck yet.

How techie are you? Go to Windows Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL) and look at the running processes. How many and what are related to Roxio?

Do you have Roxio set to start at boot?

===================

Greetings,

I have looked there but there is never any Roxio processes. I also looked in 'Services' and there is a 'RoxMediaDBVHS' that was 'Stopped'. I changed it to 'Running' but that did not help. I am pretty techie so I am trying everything I know.

No, it is not set to start at boot.

Just can't get it to start.

Greetings,

I got a response from Corel tech support about this problem. They told me to download a different install file from their Skydrive. They told me to uninstall my current program and install this new install program. I did. Now the program opens just fine.

BUT...it does not get the video signal from my Hi8 camera.

So one problem solved, but it still does not work...... I just get "no video signal".

This version's build is '301B37A, VH3'.

Do the repair again, but this time remove the Roxio USB first.... when the repair is finished, plug it in.

======

Greetings,

Thanks for the suggestion, but it did not do any good. It was working just fine. And then a few minutes later, it stopped working. I had digitized a video. I closed the program and tried to reopen it to continue with more of the video. Then it would not open. The only thing that happens is the Roxio graphic flashes quickly then nothing.

Yes, Jim, I did a shutdown and reboot.

Any other ideas???

Gary

PS I notice that the Roxio Sound Editor program works, but not the DVD3 Plus.

Please explain the above... what do you mean by "tried to reopen it to continue with more of the video". What did you try to reopen? What graphic flashes by? You have to give more details since we cannot see what your are doing and what is happening.
