I'm using VHS to DVD 3 Plus to convert some older (10+ years) VHS tapes. I see the green tint mentioned bove over the upper 25% of each frame.
I've tried several VHS decks and am currently switched to my best one, a Sanyo GVR-S950, but don't see much of an improvement.
To see if the video signal from the deck has this green tint I placed a 3 output s-video distribution amplifier after the VHS deck and fed one output to a TV monitor and anotyher to the DVD to VHS 3 Plus device (using only s-video for both devices.) I see the green tint from the Roxio converter but a very good image with no green tint on the TV. The s-video distribution amplifier (Kramer 103YC) allows me to insert up to 6 dB of gain to the luminance signal component, up to 4+ dB of gain to the chroma signal component and up to 9 dB of emphasis to the high frequency end of the chroma signal.
I have achieved some reduction in the saturation of the green tint when I provide the maximum (+6 dB) luminance gain but there is still some green tint left.
Is anyone aware of an explanation and hopefully a solution provided by Roxio, or anyone else?
I just wanted to buy a tool (the Roxio device) to convert some old VHS tapes. I don't want to design and build one...I have enough projects now..
