Green Tint - Split From An Already Split Thread

Phil55

Question

I'm using VHS to DVD 3 Plus to convert some older (10+ years) VHS tapes. I see the green tint mentioned bove over the upper 25% of each frame.

I've tried several VHS decks and am currently switched to my best one, a Sanyo GVR-S950, but don't see much of an improvement.

To see if the video signal from the deck has this green tint I placed a 3 output s-video distribution amplifier after the VHS deck and fed one output to a TV monitor and anotyher to the DVD to VHS 3 Plus device (using only s-video for both devices.) I see the green tint from the Roxio converter but a very good image with no green tint on the TV. The s-video distribution amplifier (Kramer 103YC) allows me to insert up to 6 dB of gain to the luminance signal component, up to 4+ dB of gain to the chroma signal component and up to 9 dB of emphasis to the high frequency end of the chroma signal.

I have achieved some reduction in the saturation of the green tint when I provide the maximum (+6 dB) luminance gain but there is still some green tint left.

Is anyone aware of an explanation and hopefully a solution provided by Roxio, or anyone else?

I just wanted to buy a tool (the Roxio device) to convert some old VHS tapes. I don't want to design and build one...I have enough projects now..

I've connected using both a DVD and BD player. Still see a green band at te top from the Roxio device.

Same result using NTSC (yellow) video.

It's pretty obvious tome that the Roxio VHS to DVD 3 Plus has a deficiency. What I'm seeking is some insight into the cause and/or a work around or fix. Surely by now Roxio knows about the problem.

I don't see your deficiency - it works perfect on my system. Just because a few users have a problem that does not not make it a Roxio problem as the source most likely is in the users system otherwise everyone would be having the problem

Well it is odd...

If it is the device, your way out of warrenty anyway...

If it is somehow the software (never seen that the 6 years it has been out) do a proper repair:

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Unplug your Roxio Capture Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

Check for an IM message too, upper right ;)

Do you have a video card or chip? Is the driver for that up to date?

Have you checked your monitor to see if it is out of adjustment? Use the program for your video card or chip to check the adjustment.

Do you notice any other color imbalance with other programs.

Please provide this information(link). Attach the text file do not copy and paste it.

Also what power supply do you have? If it going bad then some high CPU use (like capture) may be affected. Did you add new equipment to your computer without checking if the power supply could handle it?

Can you borrow a monitor from someone to see if the green tint is still there?
