Convert Blu-Ray Iso To Dvd?

epochpro

Question

So I have created a Blu-Ray iso image that I can burn with toast and works perfectly fine. I would like to convert/encode this image to a DVD or DVD iso image of any sort. There is nothing in the Blu-Ray where it cannot be made into a DVD. In fact, I created the original iso in Adobe Encore and typically also export a DVD iso except in this case so I'm hoping to turn to Toast for the solution.

Any help here?

Thanks

I don't think that can be done as the BluRay structure is completely different from the DVD structure. You have to recreate everything

Right. You cannot make a Blu-ray video into a standard DVD-video with the same menus and such. You can only convert the HD videos themselves to SD and then author a new DVD.

I appreciate the feedback, but what you are saying is not ALWAYS the case. There are only certain BD features that cannot be translated to a standard definition DVD (i.e. pop up menus). BUT, as anyone who has used Adobe Encore will attest to, a project can be created in a way where it is compliant to create a BD OR a DVD, which is the case for me.

I have seen some software for Windows that can do the image to image compression, but nothing for the Mac. This seems like something that would be in the feature set for Toast . . . . . maybe not.

You are now talking about something completely different from your first post where you wanted to convert a BluRay iso image to a standard DVD image file. Now you are talking about a project that can create a BlueRay disc and/or a DVD. That is completely different.

"I have seen some software for Windows that can do the image to image compression" ... can you give an example of such software?

Thanks for that, I appreciate it. However, I want the entire image squeezed on to DVD, not just the primary footage. If I took only the video stream, I would still have to recreate all of my menus, links, chapters, etc, etc, etc.

I understand that many Blu-Ray features are not DVD compatible, but these are and normally I output both at the same time, I just don't have the original files anymore. So, anyone know how to compress a Blu-Ray image (iso) directly to a DVD image (iso)?
