Black Or Blank Screens

Confi_User_3

Question

Hello mates

I just bought the Roxio Game Capture HD Pro and at the moment I only have troubles with this thing as I can't even record anything with it.

My attempts always end the same: I installed the software and wanted to record something, but as I start the capture program there is no screen (totally black) or, with some luck, a black screen (where you can see the screen with a lighter black) without any sounds. Akwardly, the status says it's "Ready" in green. I tried it with the PS2, PS3 and PS4, with PS2 and PS3 the status saying "Ready" in green. I can also record, but when I activate this function it just creates a data with no video and no audio. With the PS4 there is a connection problem written in red, probably because of the locked HDMI port.

I'm pretty sure I plugged in everything correctly. The consoles (for PS2 and PS3 I use component cables, for PS4 an HDMI cable) are plugged in the Roxio as inputs, whereas I use the output (HDMI) for the TV. Also the Roxio is connected with my laptop. Windows 8, 8GB Ram, intel core i7, 500GB of free hard drive data, I think this should be enough.

I really can't see the problem. I don't think that the ArcSoft program of my old capture device, an Hauppauge, has anything to do with it. I repaired the program once, did reinstall it and tried the variety of things I could imagine, but it just didn't help. Can anybody please help me to fix this problem? I don't like it to give 170 Swiss Francs to a device that doesn't work like it should.

Not so much...

I do see at the left "Apply overclocking at startup" and on the right screen "Application detection level" is set to High.

I would find and turn off any overclock and set that detection to None. I cannot tell for sure but I am assuming you are running your screen resolution no higher than 1920 X 1080 (Normal 100% DPI).

Also make inquiries with AMD as well as your PC manufacturer's site. More heads are better than mine

(personal curiosity - do you normally run your PC in English?)

I turned the overclocking off and set the Application Detection Level to none. Nothing changed :(

My screen resolution is 1920 x 1080. I can set it lower, but this doesn't help and my screen gets blurry.

Now I really can't help myself anymore :(

(No, the PC language is set to German xD)

"Green Ready" means it has a signal and will capture it...

You have a display issue with you Video Card/Chip and it's software...

Best bet would be to get the latest update for it and UNINSTALL - reboot and install the drivers and software.

Then stop right there and use the defaults, don't tinker with settings.

Thank you for your quick reply. Unfortunately it didn't help yet.

When you say Video Card I think you mean graphic card. I now updated my graphic card with the newest software and drivers, deinstalled it, reinstalled it, and it still doesn't work.

I have an AMD Radeon HD 7500m/7600m Series, maybe it helps.

Not really, it is an issue with your display.

Check your settings against the Specs... Usually it is when someone tries to tweak 3D or Performance of their Video Card that it wrecks the display.

You should also ask on your graphics maker site as well as your PC manufacture site ;)

I think I see what you mean. I'll try it out by updating it via the manufacturer site. Unfortunately the internet here where I am now is pretty unstable, I can't download anything big until tomorrow.

But I don't really understand what should be wrong with the display. I don't use 3D or anything specific for performance, it runs normally since I bought it a year ago and I didn't change anything about screen resolutions or any other things, Maybe you could also tell me how I could set the display right so it could work since I'm not a pro at computer using :)

Not really... the graphics card makers seem to come out with an update every month to fix something and often it causes something else to fail

3D effect is completely different from actual 3D. Almost all graphic software has settings to tinker with for that. You say you did not and I do believe you.

But things like performance acceleration, refresh rates etc. all have consequences otherwise they would be locked in at the factory.
