No Picture In Preview Screen

jimstick

Question

I know this has been covered, but none of the solutions posted have worked for me, so here goes;

I have no picture on my computer preview screen while connected to a HD input. As long as I am connected to 480p I can see the preview. If the input is 720 or 1080 the screen goes blank. I can still record ok, but I can't preview. I am using HDMI input.

I know it has something to do with my computer, but I can't figure It out. I connected it to another computer, and it worked fine. It worked for a couple of months, and then just stopped. Nothing changed. My computer only has the onboard intel graphics, and I have not changed any settings, nor can I see how to. The only thing that changed around the time was several windows updates.

My computer is a Pentium 2.2 ghz, 4gigs RAM, 500gig HDD. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

I solved my problem...sort of. If your computer has the Intel HD graphics built in, this might work for you, too. I had to disable the graphics hardware completely. I have to re-enable it to render the video.

I had to go into control panel; device manager; display adapter; right click; properties; disable device, and then I have picture in preview in all resolutions. However, that also makes the video captured kind of jerky, in other words, it freezes momentarily repeatedly. I think I can play with the bitrate and get it to smooth out.

The reason I say fixed sort of, is that, I did not have to do this before, and it worked with the display adapter enabled. I would still like to know why I have to do this, now, and not before. What changed? I can say for sure it was not the adapter settings. I have changed everything that can be changed, with no results.

Didn't read the post too well. I said I don't see any way to change them.

If that is a single core CPU then it will not work correctly

Minimum System Requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows® 8, 7, Vista™ SP2, XP (SP3 for 32 bit & SP2 for 64 bit), Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor 1.8 GHz or AMD Athlon x2 64 2.0 GHz, 2GB RAM
  • Dual Core 2.3 GHz above is recommended for 1080 30p/60i recording.
